Maria Nicholaievna / Re: Photo ID Question - Might This Actually Be Maria?
« on: September 20, 2016, 11:30:30 AM »
Wow, Alexei, what long hair you have! :D

I can't see the blown up picture or see the small one close enough to identify which sister it is, but I do think it's Maria from the height, but it could be either Maria or Anastasia. If they're aboard the Kaiser's yacht, which year were they visiting him? It would be easier as we can identify which sisters were wearing their hair down at that time to narrow the selection down.

Books about the Romanovs and Imperial Russia / Re: New Book on Wattpad
« on: September 19, 2016, 02:34:32 AM »
Without documented evidence I don't think we'll ever find out. :( I believe they may have shared rooms in Livadia and Spala, but on the Standart? Unless there wasn't enough cabins to have one each, they could have had their own.

Did the family stay in the Catherine Palace anytime? I remember reading somewhere that when they did, Tatiana and Anastasia fell ill as the Palace was cold all the time because it was much bigger than Alexander.

Embarrassingly, this was mine!

I took it down and started anew, with a Romanov historical fiction planned for Wattpad called Romanov Winds with the Prologue published January, 2017 and probably much earlier if I can! Chapter by chapter as I make sure it is historically accurate as it can be!

But thanks for the mention on here! There are two other Romanov books on here that deserve a mention on this forum, and that's Homing Bird (now published on Amazon!) and Roots, a Romanov survival book set in our modern times. I enjoyed both of them, especially Homing Bird! If you haven't read them, I personally suggest you do! Roots can be found for free on Wattpad but Homing Bird has to be purchased through Amazon. I was one of the lucky few able to read it's fully published version of Homing Bird before it was taken down to be published, and from what I remember it's certainly an interesting read!

Books about the Romanovs and Imperial Russia / New Book on Wattpad
« on: September 18, 2016, 05:13:53 PM »
Hey guys! Finally I can get back on here! I may have forgotten my password for a few months! Oops!

I had no clue where to put this so if you think it belongs somewhere else on the forum by all means move it to it's correct location!

Anyway, I am planning to write a novel (posted on Wattpad) set in the Russian Court. Here's the summary if you are interested:

Tsarskoye Selo, 1903. Ekaterina Alexeyevna Stepanova is swept up into a world only found in fairy tales while guarding a well kept family secret that could finally bring about the fall of the Romanov Dynasty when she becomes the playmate to the Tsar's daughters-Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia.

However, keeping it historically accurate has been a challenge. I would find something out about-lets say-Olga, then find out it didn't happen or it didn't happen in the way I read about! Of course this forum has been a massive help, and I've read some of you helping out people who are planning/have planned to write a historical fiction about them. But, it's answers I have a hard time finding that makes it harder to make it as accurate as possible!

For example, an easy one: Was it before or after Alexei's birth that Margaretta Eager left the Alexander Palace?

And, more harder: Did OTMA only share rooms in Alexander or did they share rooms on the Standart and in many of their palaces like Livadia and Spala?

I would appreciate the help and hopefully, one day, get this published!

I remember reading on another website that a man was claiming to be the grandson of Olga and that AOTMAA survived and fled the shooting. He had mass followers and he was talking about trying to claim the Russian throne and being allowed permission to go into the Russian Archives. I don't think the people who believed him were serious or not, but to test if they just believed everything on that website, I made a claim that my grandmother was Grand Duchess Tatiana. Of course, they believed me and so did he! He went on for days about my evidence being accurate and even calling me 'cousin'! Just goes to prove that people believe everything they hear. I haven't been back on it for a while and don't remember the website so I can't go back. Oops. But I am NOT claiming to be a Romanov, just so you know, just telling you about the story and how I was able to prove he was a liar, and this was before the remains were found in 2007.

Having Fun! / Re: More Romanov Dreams?
« on: May 28, 2016, 06:59:43 AM »
The dreams I had were years ago, but I remember them like they were yesterday. This one is my personal favourite so I thought I would share them with you all:

The first one I was running across the grass of Alexander Palace, wearing a white dress and barefooted, with a hat similar to the ones the Grand Duchesses had with the ribbon wrapped around the base and blowing in the wind. I was laughing, smiling, and I felt my hands being taken. When I looked to both sides to see who it was, surprisingly I saw Maria and Olga. It wasn't in black and white like all the pictures we have seen, but Olga's hair in the sun nearly blinded me, it was that blonde in the sunlight!

Maria winked at me from my other side and the next thing I know we stopped running, and a small girl zipped past us. It was the little Imp herself, Anastasia, who was cheering and yelling happily. Just as she realised Maria, Olga and I had stopped she placed one foot forward to run but slipped, and there she was standing in a puddle up to her knees, ruining her dress which was identical to the ones the three of us were wearing. We laughed hard and hard at the youngest, who turned her head and pouted at us, her mouth moving but no sound coming out which bewildered me, however from the expression on her face they were not overly pleasant words!

When I realised the dream had not included Tatiana, I heard a voice shout from behind us in Russian, a language I did not understand, but my brain immediately reacted and I shouted back, the voice coming from my lips not the one my realistic body was accustomed too, and there was Nicholas, Alexandra and Alexei. Alexei was laughing at his older sister who was stomping towards us, her legs and bottom portion of her dress caked in mud. Alexandra was looking disapproving at the dress, but a little smile was trying to creep onto her face and Nicholas was holding his stomach, he was laughing so hard. When the four of us reached them, Alexandra immediately began tending to Anastasia's dress and Nicholas gave Olga, Maria and I kisses on our cheeks. I saw Alexei turn to me and mouth a word, and in my confusion I woke up.

I late hypothesised that my dream had placed me in the position of Tatiana, enjoying a time spent with her family. I thought it was amazing my brain had just taken my obsession with the Romanovs into a dream that placed me in the point of view of the second daughter herself!

My brain had also, when I came to think of it, had made Alexei and Anastasia mute because I had not heard how they sounded, including Olga, Maria and Alexandra, but because we have videos of Nicholas' voice-some pitched down-my brain took that and placed it into my dream!

From the appearance of Anastasia, Maria and Olga and my own age at the time I believe my dream took place in 1912.

To get back to the subject title and to clear it up for myself; I believe it went Nicholas, Alexandra, Trupp, Botkin, Anna (?), Olga/Tatiana, Tatiana/Olga, Alexei, Maria/Anastasia, Anastasia/Maria. (Too many sources say Olga or Tatiana died first out of the girls and Maria or Anastasia died last.)

Nicholas - Bullet wound(s) to the head/heart.

Alexandra - Bullet to the side of the head.

Anna - Bayoneted to death.

Olga - Gunshot wound to the head by either falling back or by Yurovsky when she tried to stand up. (I believe we all agree she definitely died from a bullet to the head).

Tatiana - Gunshot wound to the head by Yurovsky, bayoneted to death trying to protect Anastasia and Maria (some sources say that, don't they?) or rifle butt if you believe she was one of the girls who cried out when carried out.

Maria - Gunshot wound to the head (if you believe the body found in the 1991 burial is not Maria), or rifle butt if you believe she was one of the girls who cried out.

Anastasia - Gunshot wound to the head (if you believe the body found in the 1991 burial is not Anastasia), or rifle butt if you believe she was one of the girls who cried out.

Alexei - Gunshot wound to the head.

I do not remember hearing how Trupp and Botkin died but I do believe someone wrote somewhere Botkin survived the first round of the bullets but Trupp did not.

There was another servant with them but I cannot recall his name at this moment of time. If you think I've made some mistakes please tell me.

Anastasia Nicholaievna / Re: Countess Anastasia?

But my brain is reading it as 'The many Countess Anastasia's who litter history...' not 'Countesses Anastasia'. Strange.

I've never seen anywhere that Anastasia was also a countess. The only Countess Anastasia I have heard of is Countess Anastasia Hendrikova, one of Alexandra's lady-in-waiting who died in Perm in 1918.

The Imperial Family / Information for an Assessment
« on: May 11, 2016, 03:18:49 PM »
Hello! I'm new to this forum, only officially talking on threads since last week, and I need some help!

It's like the subject title says: I have been tasked by my history teacher in 6th form (another form of school in the UK) to write about any point of history. Luck has been bestowed on me and I picked out 'The Romanovs' from a hat! (Thank you, luck!)

After asking my teacher for what he specifically wants, he told me I need to write about:

1. Each member of the family-anecdotes, quotes from people who personally knew the family etc (it is about the Romanovs generally after all!)

2. Imprisonment.

3. Execution.

4. Claimants (not just Anna Anderson).

5. Bodies from the 1991 search.

6. Bodies from the 2007 search.

7. Conclusion.

I have already written about Alexandra and Nicholas, but it's the rest of it I'm confused about. I have been 'stalking' this forum for months and (no offence) but the arguments and always going off topic (usually about AA) has confused me quiet a bit.

I would appreciate any help given. I want to ace this assessment, being the growing Romanov nerd I am! :)

To not confuse me and my teacher, I would like to talk about Olga firstly then Tatiana, then Maria, Anastasia and then Alexei. Then Imprisonment followed by execution, claimants and the findings of the bodies from both years.

I can show snippets of the draft paper as I write (can't show my final piece until it's done!) to show you all how it's going.

Thank you!

~Sophie

Tatiana Nicholaievna / Re: The Spirit of Tatiana Nikolaevna

I have heard of some people talking to dead people through their dreams, willingly or not. But that's IF Tatiana did visit Prince Christopher from the afterlife.

Hi Tim!

I do find it interesting that it mentions AA as a fraud, and kind of amusing that-if it is true-Tatiana came and told Prince Christopher. You would think it would be Anastasia to confirm to his own eyes that she died that fateful night, but Tatiana was someone who went to straight to point, so it would make sense she wanted to stop Anna Anderson claiming to be her little sister to someone who would believe her-as a spirit or alive herself (I'm not claiming she lived by saying this).

Hi anyone out there! I was just browsing when I saw this story from the Memoirs of Prince Christopher of Greece .

Prince Christopher of Greece-who held a fascination of spirits and ghosts-claimed to have been visited by the spirit of Tatiana Nikolaevna who cleared up the Anna Anderson mystery.

This is the extract from his memoirs:

Then the lights were turned out and almost immediately the medium went into a trance. […] Then there was silence, broken only by the heavy breathing of the medium. Suddenly one of the trumpets rose from the floor and hit me lightly on the head as though to attract my attention. At first I heard only a faint murmur, then the words came clearly. To my amazement they were Russian.

“Don’t you recognize me?” The soft voice seemed curiously familiar, but I could not identify it. “I have been following you around,” it went on with a little laugh. “I am Tatiana.”

The only Tatiana I knew was the second daughter of the Czar, Nicholas II, and I said so.

“Yes, of course.” I could swear there was a note of triumph in the voice.

“We are all here,” it went on in perfect Russian. “We send you our love and kiss you”–there was a sound of someone blowing a kiss–“and Anastasia wants you to know that the person who is on her way to America is not she. You must tell Auntie Xenia this.”

The voice died away and the trumpet fell to the ground.

To people who don't believe in spirits and ghosts: Freaky that he was right, and that he claimed this because he was correct. :)

To the people who believe in ghosts and spirits: So Tatiana came to tell Prince Christopher that they were all dead and Anna Anderson was a fraud. Why didn't she go and tell her Aunt Olga or Xenia herself? Or did she tell Christopher because he believed in ghosts and spirits and knew he would believe her?
