Forum Announcements / Re: Forum Members Not Heard From in a Long While
« on: March 12, 2017, 12:00:08 AM »
Welcome back, Kitt!

Someone asked about me. I've always been a friend of Bob's and Rob's. They can always reach me.

I became ill in 2012 and had to stop working for some time. I resumed working but stopped in 2015. I have been disabled since. My husband and I retired and moved to Murrieta, CA in May 2016.

I care for my mother in law who is in the early stages of dementia. But, I finally have time for this Forum again, which makes me very happy. Ilana Miller remains a dear friend. She has been looking for Alixz.

No problem!

Welcome to the Forum!

I agree with the poster who said that the term "bad rep" was somewhat problematic. I would also say a great many people who knew little about the Emperor both in the past or in the present have spoken from a place of ignorance so I pay little attention to their opinions.

Many of Nicholas' accomplishments have been forgotten and I intend to write about these soon. For example, he was responsible for founding the International Court of Justice in The Hague, an important international organization til this day.

Thank you, JGP.

Can you please provide a link to the Slatter piece? I just spent 10 minutes without success trying to even read it.

The Final Chapter / Re: Ekaterinburg - Yekaterinburg

Some of us plan to go to Russia in 2018 to commemorate the Imperial Family.

I think the Brussels remains are still in wall of the church. The church had a list of what conditions would be necessary to repatriate the family's remains to Russia and they have not been met yet. It was also my understanding that the Brussels remains include: remains sent to Grand Duchess Xenia A; remains brought out of Yekaterinburg by Sokolov's representative and that there is nothing else buried in a Paris cemetery.

Of course this information came to me long ago. If I can find my notes, I will publish them here. I doubt the Nazis had much interest in the Imperial Family's remains.

Alexandra's name was Princess Alix of Hesse and by Rhine. As the daughter of the Grand Duke of Hesse and by Rhine, she did not have nor did she need a surname. Indeed, surnames are a rather recent invention in the civilized world. Prior to this, people used first names and at times the town or location name. So my friend of Ilana Miller would have been known as a royal as "Princess Ilana of Brentwood", or "Ilana, Princess of Brentwood".

Alexandra loved children and they loved her. She lost her customary shyness while with kids I think. I will have to go to my library for specific citations but they can be found.

Nemtsov was instrumental in assuring the last Tsar and his family and retainers were buried.

His murder was a great loss for Russia.

The Final Chapter / Re: FIGHT OR FLIGHT RESPONSE

I think we will never know for certain because the Bolsheviks thought nothing of lying and the Family is in no position to let us know. I think that certainly they would have been surprised but with their strong Orthodox faith, probably commended themselves to God's keeping. It is my hope that they knew of little fear or pain, but we cannot be certain of this.

It has been scientifically proven many times that 4 daughters and 1 son of Nicholas and Alexandra's were found outside Yekaterinburg, giving mute evidence to confirm the claim of the City's Bolsheviks. I am of the opinion that we will never know for certain which younger daughter was buried with Alexei. We do know that only one of the 4 daughters was a hemophilia carrier.

Helen and Margarita are/were correct. The mtDNA of Grand Duchess Elizabeth and Empress Alexandra would be identical to that of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. No matter how much digging up or new testing that is done, this will not change.
