Pers, I am sorry that is shocking, dear friend, but yes, they were all desecrated, all of them, to the last, please see Belochka's post below. Again, all of us in the Emigration knew this, and my grandmother (my grandfather and my grandmother's three sisters had already been liquidated by that time, as well as my aunt) vividedly remember the parading-around of these dug-up skeletons, some of strung up lamppost style. It went for two-or-three months. And yes, they dug and blasted...why do you think that the Krepost was off limits for nearly 80 years and that it is in such a dilapidated state? Shocking beyond shocking. But they did the same thing in France nearly 130 years before. Something disgusting about it.
I believe Belochka is correct. The burial vaults are there but it is anyone's best guest if (a) any person is really buried there and (b) if there is a person that is buried there, whether or not it is indeed the person named on the tomb.
Nearly everyone doubts it. Everyone then, everyone know. And this was done in the name of the people...vox populii.
Photographs of the Grand Ducal Vault are not permited. Below is a photograph of Grand Duke Kyril Vladimirovich's tomb. The Grand Ducal Vault was closed to visitors at the time for an extreme renovation of the floor and foundation because of the high water table.

Thanks D BTW from the inscription on the tomb, this looks like the tomb of GD Valdimir A? I may be wrong. Date of death
appears to be 1909? Also, last name looks like Alexandrovich instead of Vadimirovich?
I have a question about Maria and her brother Dimitri.
When they died were they cremated? Also do you think
Lennart will be buried on Mainau?
I have to agree with Robert.I believe once the family left Tobolsk and arrived in Ekaterinburg their fate was sealed. It kind of makes me wonder if Lenin had tried to bring the IF to Moscow for a public trial would he have been able to.It seemed like when the Ural Soviets got ahold of the IF they were unwilling to let them go for any reason so they could dwell out the people's justice.
Maybe I'm wrong but this is just my take on it.
