Having Fun! / Re: I got a new cat: Tatiana!
« on: May 13, 2015, 09:40:09 PM »
My family has grown again. My boyfriend moved in with my sister, her boyfriend and I and brought his golden retriever, Max and cat, OJ (Short for Orange Juice) with him. I have some pictures that I will try to post soon.

Hope I'm not out of line here but I can't keep from asking...

Your sister lives with your boyfriend, and you are purchasing cats with her boyfriend? That's a pretty interesting arrangement you have, lol.

ha ha, no. My boyfriend just moved in with us last month. my sister's boyfriend already lived with us. When my boyfriend moved in, he brought his dog and cat with him.

Had a bit of a scare today..

Tatiana got out of the apartment again, as she has done many times before.  A round of Chase The Cat followed as I tried to steer her back towards my apartment.  This time, however, the elevator opened as someone got off, and Tatiana ran into the open elevator.  Thankfully,  I was able to grab her before the doors closed and whisked her away to another floor!

Thank goodness you got her in time, Tim. On my end, my baby, Kanoa, who is now a full grown husky, managed to get himself and Aussie (my cat) caught in the doggy door, because they tried to get through at the same time. I swear, I don't know what to do with those two, anymore!

I hope Cocoa will be okay.  Keep us posted.

Thanks, Tim. It looks like she's going to be okay. The vet said she has a chest infection and should be back on her feet once she's had a course of antibiotics.

Good to hear Tatiana's healthy, Tim. We're having our vet come to the farm to check on Alex and Cocoa (Alex will be year old in July, Cocoa is seventeen). Cocoa is pretty sick right now and Alex is getting his check up.

Got this off Wikipedia.  The episode was part of MH's second season (the 19th episode of said season):

Quote
Princess Anastasia, Anna Anderson
Christina and Araya team up to solve a royal mystery. Araya travels to Virginia to investigate claims that a Russian Princess lived in a small American town. Could the woman really be a Russian Princess who escaped her family's execution? Christina goes to Russia in search of the missing Princess Anastasia. Doubting Dave shows the tricks that pros use to impersonate people all of the time. Could you have a twin somewhere in the world?

I also searched on Wikipedia and was unable to find that specific episode on YouTube. They have other episodes, but not that one. I'll search on other sites to see if I can find it.

The sad reality though, is people don't realize that taking care of an animal (or in my case, multiple) is like taking care of a child. They adopt or purchase an animal, get in way over their head/s and decide that they can't do it anymore. You wouldn't dump your child on the street, so don't do the same to an animal. If you must give an animal up, take them to your local independent shelter or Humane Society, don't just leave them out there on their own.

Sadly, a lot of people do that.  Trilly, the cat I had before Tatiana, was such a cat, she was a stray on the streets.  She found her way to my back porch, and found a home with me for the next 12 years.

Jack and Cody, my not quite two year old Golden Retrievers were rescued from the streets as well. In April of 2011, at approx. 2 months old, after being discovered with their two sisters and brother by a dumpster, they were brought into the Humane Society location I work at. I took the boys home with me a week later and they have been here with me ever since.

Yeah, I agree.  There would be fewer strays around if everyone did that.

Thank God for the Humane Society.  Thanks to them, cats like Tatiana can find loving homes.

I know. I can't begin to tell you the pain and abuse I have seen working at my location.

Tatiana has to go to the vet on Friday, but it's just her routine annual check-up.  She'll get her injections.

Yep, on March 10, it will be one year since I adopted her.

and 2 days later, on the 12, it'll be a year since my little fur balls (who now weigh nearly 55 pounds) came home with me.

Having Fun! / Re: What was the best decade in the twentieth century?
« on: February 16, 2013, 08:36:52 PM »
I would have to say the 1980's, maybe because that was the decade of my youth.   Plus, most of the music I still like was made in the 80's.

I was born in '85 and as a result, was a kid and teen in the 90's, but I have always loved both decades. I still wear lots of bright clothes and listen to the same music I was brought up with on my family's cross-country road trips every summer. But, both of my parents would have to say it would be the 70's that they both enjoyed the most, partly because they were both teens when 70's came (my dad was 16 and my mom was 14 in 1970) and they really enjoyed their teens during that decade. I would stick with the 80's and 90's, though.

Maria: This is 555-0000, and no, it's not Pete's Pizzaria. It's not the Credit Union either, and no one named Dave lives here. You can leave a message though.

Olga: Answer the phone, please, Nastya. Anastasia: I'm sorry, Olya, I can't do that.

Anastasia: This is a test. This is a test of the Answering Machine Broadcast System. This is only a test.

Anastasia: No! NO! Not THAT! Anything but that! Not the beep! No! Please! Not the beep! Anything but the beep! AAAAIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
