Go for it, Tim. ff.net also has a sister site called fictionpress.com that you could try uploading to.

I'm getting ready to move, and Tatiana has this habit of chewing on the boxes!  LOL!

I know the feeling Tim! My dog, Jack, who was 10 months at the time, would do the exact same thing when I moved in 2011. I would go to bed, work or school with the boxes intact and come home or wake up to completely destroyed ones or pieces of cardboard scattered all over the place. It finally got to the point where we had to buy plastic containers and leave our dogs with my mom (who was three hours from where we lived before and an hour from where we are now) while we finished packing and moved.

P.S. congrats on becoming a moderator,Tim!

Having Fun! / Re: Bad Movies I Have Seen
« on: January 22, 2013, 07:52:28 PM »
I just watched a really bad movie a few days ago called "Arachnoquake"

Basically, the movie is about giant spiders that take over the rural areas of Louisiana, wreak havoc, destroy buildings and kill people.

I don't know what bothered me more about the movie: the weird spiders (they were white and pink/red) or the bad acting. Either way, it is a pretty strange movie and was hard to watch.

Depends what you mean by bad.

If Braveheart were simply enjoyable hokum I would have no particular problem. However, it has had a noticeable political effect in this country by promoting Scottish aspirations to independence on the basis of a myth.

Ann

That's fair. So maybe we should consider it "reckless" and "dangerous". Certainly there are very few people who'd consider it "bad" off of the basic components of a film; script, storyline, pacing, acting, etc. Obviously it scores poorly on 'historical accuracy'.

I am a descendant of William Wallace and was subjected to "Braveheart" many times during my junior and high school years, and thus had to endure many questions about the real William Wallace. I completely agree that the movie should be deemed "reckless" due to the fact that every question my classmates asked me about William was based on the movie, including: "Did William really wear blue face paint?" to which I always answered: "if he did actually paint his face, I would think it would be the colors of our clan: deep red and green."

I don't particularly think the movie was bad, just horribly inaccurate. I don't know if I am so disappointed in the movie because I pride myself on knowing as much about my ancestor as I can, but that movie just irks me.

I did, Tim! Tatiana is such a cutie pie.

On a pretty sad note for me, I lost two of my "kids" over the weekend. Jesse, my Westie, passed away on Saturday morning, three days before his 14th birthday and my American Eskimo mix, Logan passed away on Sunday night at the ripe old age of 17. I adopted my boys when I was 14 from a small shelter in Halifax and fell in love with them instantly. I will miss my boys tremendously, but as always I have a lot of room in my heart for another few sets of paws, and may find myself with another kid sometime soon.

Yes, they are. Well except for when they decide to wake you up by attacking your feet while you sleep.

News Links / Re: Devastating Wild Fire in Alberta
« on: September 17, 2012, 07:08:20 PM »
Fire everywhere.... I'm updating this thread to bring news that my beautiful province has once again been hit by wildfires. This time they hit the small southern Alberta towns of Lethbridge and Coalhurst and both were evacuated to Picture Butte, AB (it is just north of Lethbridge) due to the blaze.

On another note, the Okotoks grain tower, which is about fifteen minutes from my home (also in Okotoks) burned to the ground yesterday night. At this time no one is sure if it is due to natural causes or what not, but smoke is still wafting around a bit where I am.

On the other end of the province, in July of this year, a series of wildfires ripped through northern Alberta, effectively blanketing the entire city of Edmonton in a thick haze of smoke.

Thankfully those who were evacuated due to the wildfires are now home and safe. As far as I know there were no deaths, and I keep those who lost their homes/property in the fires in my heart.

If you'd like to learn more about the wildfires, you can visit the following links:

So true. I have a few "kids" that are getting up there in age and I know I will be completely devastated when they leave me.

I'm sorry to hear about Ling-Ling too. Like Tim said, she looked like an absolutely sweet cat.

Maybe you can post some pictures of him.  I wonder how many of us have named pets after members of the IF?

You get your request Tim and so much more! I'm sorry the pictures of the little guy aren't better. He's still spooked by cameras so I had to take them from a bit of a distance and the pictures of him and his aunt were taken at a local riding club, where we were getting him trained.

so with out further ado... here's some more pics of my "kids":

Alex and Piper (his aunt)
Alex and Piper again
Kinda blurry pic of Alex and Piper
My other horse, Dune
my sister's new kid, Sophia
My mom's horse and Alex's mom, Cocoa*Side note: Cocoa had to get a cataract removed from her right eye, which is why it appears gray-blue.*
Logan, my American Eskimo/Cocker Spaniel mix and my cousins

Little Tatiana is adorable Tim!
On my end... I have another new family member! My mom's quarter horse, Cocoa, gave birth to a colt two days ago and the little guy is my newest "kid". I've taken Tim's suggestion and named him Alex (after both Alexei and Alexandra).

That is so adorable Tim!

Jesse and Aussie, my dog and cat,  always sleep on the couch together. I walked into the living room this morning, and as usual, Aussie was sleeping ON TOP of Jesse. Its so funny to see a big black lump on top of a completely (although dirty at the moment) white dog.

Here are some pics of Jesse and Aussie if anyone is interested...

Oh and Charlie is the one with the red collar and Jesse is the one with the blue.

Thanks for the suggestion Tim! We've already picked out names, but I'll take that into consideration for the next new family member we get.
The 4 boys are Oceano (he's a whitefaced blue, which is genetic mutation), Jet (he's a rosy peach faced, like Berry), Camo (he's also a whitefaced blue) and Citrus (he's a orange tinted peach faced like Mango). The 2 girls are Kai (she's like Oceano and Camo) and Tang (she's the same as Mango and Citrus).
