Having Fun! / Re: How is everyone today?

Sorry to hear about your troubles right now TT2. I lost one of my best friends for the same reason when I was a teenager. She was verbally abusive to everyone and had that "better than thou" attitude that no one tolerates and it got to the point that we had to part ways. It always sucks that you have to lose a friend and it really sucks over something like that.

Were did you go Lindelle?

I'm doing pretty good, my bff/sister(A), just moved out of our mutual bff/sisters(B) and back in with her mom(which was the whole reason for moving in with said bff(B) to get away from said mother). As much as we hate to think about it we both realized that if everything keeps going the way it has been then we might have to stop being friends with (B), its so weird. When we're all hanging out we have such a great time and stuff, but its like as soon as (B) leaves a switch is flipped and we get PO'd at her and stuff, she is such a hard person to be friends with, that when she's not around you wonder why your even friends at all, but then when she is around, its kinda like, ooh, this is why were friends. She's always been that way, but lately she's gotten so much worse. She was emotionally 'abusing' (A) and then it started to get physical so that's when she had enough, and moved back in with her mom, then I found out that (B) asked (A) that if me and my boyfriend ever broke up how long she would have to Waite to sleep with him or whatever. She also kissed him! I don't think knows how to treat people the right way, especially her grandma. She's always buying her things, gets her every single thing she wants for Christmas, giving her money for "working" at her grandmas business, then she probably just gives her extra money just because, he she's always biting her head off, all her grandma has to do basically say how was your day or something. And she never does anything to help out, she told my friend when she moved in that she had to help out and pay for her own food and stuff(I'm not saying that's completely unreasonable or anything), but that was her saying it, not her grandma, who owns the house they were living in-she was letting them live their out of the kindness of her heart no rent or anything, and then she didn't even do anything that she was telling my friend she had to do. She also told my friend that because her husband visited last week that over thanksgiving break he couldn't stay there. She was in no position to do that, that was her grandma's decision to make not hers. All of this is barley even scratching the surface.

Sorry, for that, venting was needed, if any of you actually read through all that then you are all saints. Lol.

Thanks darling <3  *__*
But in genoa is really a mess... a disaster. I've lived there 4 years while studying at the college, it's so terrible to see the places i love under water...

I'm thinking of you and your fellow Italians at this horrible time as well Sunny. When the wildfire that destroyed a large part of Slave Lake, AB hit earlier this year, I felt the same way you do right now. I can only hope that things get better for everyone and that this madness stops now. No more innocent lives need to be lost through Mother Nature's wrath.

it's been standard weather for October up here. It was pretty cloudy for the last few days and has dipped below zero overnight for the last few days.

my sister and I are going to BBQ some chipotle chicken breasts, corn on the cob and spaghetti squash and making some sweet potato fries. I don't know what we're having for dessert, but we'll probably have some fresh fruit with a bit of whipped cream or something.

My sister and I are moving to a new town on November 1, so we're going crazy packing and stuff. But my cousin just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on the 12th. she's her first baby and I couldn't be happier for her.

it's been quite warm up here in Alberta for the last few weeks, we've almost hit 30 degrees Celsius for the last couple of days and have been hitting the mid to late teens for the rest.

It hasn't been too bad here lately. It's been around + 18 or so for the last few days, and even though we have had a few days of rain, its been sunny a lot, which I love.

News Links / Devastating Wild Fire in Alberta
« on: May 22, 2011, 12:57:03 AM »
Hi everyone,

I just wanted to bring forward some news from my neck of the woods, here in Canada. Last week, a devastating forest fire ripped through the small town of Slave Lake, Alberta, leaving at least one third of the small town in ruins. As someone who has spent almost her entire life in southern Alberta, I had the pleasure of living in Slave Lake for almost 5 years and have gotten to know some of the families who lost everything. One of my co-worker's father's an RCMP officer, and her brother is a fire fighter that is there right now, battling this disaster.

I pray for all of those who have lost everything and hope that those who are there to help remain safe and sound.

If you want more information, you can find a news release on the fire here: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/prairies/slave-lake-reeling-after-alberta-fires-cause-devastating-destruction/article2023343/

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a photo and I'm hoping someone here has a copy of it. It's of Maria and Nicholas and was taken in around 1915 or 1916 (Maria's hair is up) and if I remember correctly, they are in an office or bedroom and Maria is sitting in a chair with a blanket over her lap.

I apologize that I cannot give more details about the photo.

Thanks a bunch in advance to anyone who can help!

Well, after being from the SECOND coldest city in the world a few weeks back (we hit -45 without the windchill for 2 days), we're enjoying a "mild" winter here right now. As I'm writing this, it's -12 outside and everyone here in the office is saying it's warm outside. We're supposed to be in the plus digits for the Christmas weekend (3 tomorrow on Christmas Eve, 4 on Christmas and 6 on Boxing Day)... which I am very much looking forward to.

I think Clare was born on April 23 (since Earth day is April 22)

I think GD Andrea was born on February 19 (death of his father)

My pick for Maria, although it could be for all of OTMA, is "Holy Water" by Big and Rich... especially the first few lines...

Somewhere there's a stolen halo
I used to watch her wear it well
Everything would shine wherever she would go
But looking at her now you'd never tell

Someone ran away with her innocence
A memory she can't get out of her head
I can only imagine what she's feeling
When she's praying
Kneeling at the edge of her bed

And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me like holy water
Holy water

She wants someone to call her angel
Someone to put the light back in her eyes
She's looking through the faces
The unfamiliar places
She needs someone to hear her when she crys

And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me like holy water
Holy water

She just needs a little help
To wash away the pain she's felt
She wants to feel the healing hands
Of someone who understands

And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me
And she says take me away
And take me farther
Surround me now
And hold, hold, hold me like holy water
Holy water
