Her husband, Vladimir as head of the Kovoi, was traveling on the train and injured. Zichy references a Stats-Dama Sheremeteva that was on the train, but I do not think that is her, as I can find no reference to Elena holding that position.
No, she was not on board. She didn't have a position at the court either.

Does anyone know if Ioann's letters have been translated into English, and if so, where I might find them? I don't speak or read Russian, but I'm quite interested in reading these letters!

No, the letters has not been translated into English. Only Russian publication.

Still no any photo of Fedor Remez.
We only know from some memoirs that he was short and with black hair. Actually since my research on him in the archives I found that he was a peasant who served in the artillery and in 1904 resigned and was employed as a Reitknecht - in fact as on of the valets of Grand Duke Sergei M. Remez was one of the most devoted servants to the Grand Duke, his letters are being preserved in the archive( about his trips with GD).

« on: September 22, 2018, 01:14:23 PM »I was wondering if anyone had information on what exactly happened to Maria Nikolaevna before her death, as I've read that she moved to Italy after her second marriage, due to the nature of it. However she died in Saint Petersburg, was she moved back to Petersburg when she was deemed extremely ill, or was she later able to return to Russia?
She lived between Italy and Russia and was able any time to go to Saint-Petersbourg.

I have seen a few short videos, read a few articles etc., but would still love to have a more proper look at all those interesting things.
P.S. Sorry if it is already mentioned on one of those pages, but my German in nearly non-existent.
Yes, the catalogue does exist, even in 2 editions. The last one, 2nd edition, has been issued recently by our foundation (http://espo-fond.ru/). I am going to pick up my copy soon and can let know any details about it.

From the description it's quite impossible to understand whether it is a book only about Grand Duchess's and Grand Duke's work for the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society (which I would also find very interesting) or is it about the Grand Ducal couple in general?
I also don't seem to be able to find where the book could be purchased (and if it is possible to order it from abroad).
I would be very thankful for any information.
I think we should wait a little and the book will be at some bookstores. I believe it can be found now at the bookshop of Novospasyskiy Monastery.
Only I have some doubts about really any new facts or something like that in the book...

« on: February 10, 2018, 09:48:22 AM »I think this is the first time I'm hearing of her. Who was she exactly? Just a friend? The surname does sound familiar, though. I think I may have seen it in Zinaida Yusupova's correspondence...
She's the one who found the peach in her bed, I believe that's also where you might have seen the name.
If I remember correctly, she was the lady-in-waiting for the Empress, then Alexandra Georgievna and along the line got friendly with the Grand Ducal couple. However, I am not an expert on these matters.
Masha was a maid-of-honor of the Empress not to any Grand Duchess. She was a friend of the Grand Ducal couple.

Ekaterina Kozlianinova - Kitty and Princess Lyudmila Lobanova - Fafka), but with such an abundance of names, I can sometimes get confused...
Fafka was Alexandra Lobanova, a cousin of Lyudmila Lobanova (the 1st maid-of-honor of Elizaveta). Lyudmila's nickname was Mila.
Princess Sophie Schakhovskaya was Sonia.

Maybe you know if any of GD Elizabeth's letters to her husband were published in the 4 volume Russian biography of GD Sergei? I'm currently waiting for volume 4 to arrive.

Yes, some letters are in the last book, but not all. In the 4 Volume there are no GDss Elizaveta's letters.

Prince Ioann discussed the assasination of GD Sergei in the letters with his father and sister Tatiana. The correspondence has been published recently in Russian in a serie of books on the family of GD Konstantin K. The book on Ioann's correspondebce is :
