A most beautiful photograph of the cousins 'Thora and Alicky' together just a few years before Alexandra would become Tsarina of all Russians. The two cousins were quit close. Thanks to a wonderfull member of this forum I've learned so much about 'Thora' and her family threw photographs and the responding that came out of that. I think 'Thora' is misjudged heavenly and her image is not the one she disserves. I believe she was some sort of 'mediator' of Queen Victoria's family. As so many families have such a person. She seemed to get allong with many of her family-members and more. tleast that's what i saw in the phothograps. Even the Wales family was quit fond of her, aldo dear 'Aunt Alix' made some remarks as the 'Snipe' one. She was really everywhere and a very outgoing person. She would attend many family occasions with a smile and just because she was a 'minor' member of the Royal Family she lost the prestige that once was and became a centerpiece of suggestion and gossip.

A lovely reunion between Royal sibbelings: Queen Alexandra embraces her brother King Frederick of Denmark and gives him a kiss after she had arrived by boat in Copenhagen.

A snapshot from Queen Mary's 'Vacation from Hell', at least her husband King George V and his sister (Vic)Toria did not make it easy for her during this trip. Toria was asked to join her brother and sister-inlaw just after the death of her mother Queen Alexandra earlier that year (1925) to give her a 'time-out'. What started as a nice gesture became a complete fiasco, because 'Toria and Georgie' started their old teasing habits again like the did during their childhood as Queen Mary's Wales cousins. There was no art in the world that could save Queen Mary from their childish behaviour.

It sound like you talk out of experience gdella...  ;) Aldo Victoria of Baden was quit spending her time abroad, she must have been ''not easy going'' when being in Sweden do. At least I thought that was what grand duchess Maria Pavlovna the Younger experienced. Did Margaret have the same issues or did MP the Younger was just not easy to deal with herself either? Just a little question between the lines.

Dont mean to doubt you RN, but this is Lille Louise, and not Thyra. Lovely image of her though!

Yes your all right it is Louise. I just wrote Thyra down without thinking and checking because it was labeled down as Thyra in the archives were I found it. So with my unsharpness you can doubt me every day ;).... thank you very much for pointing that out to me PrinceEddy1864 and other like Svetabel.

I don't think so. I just have a small part of it in dutch, because that was published exclusively in a royalty magazine in the Netherlands more than thirty years ago. So I don't have the entire book either and I doubt it was ever published in English. But offcourse I'm not 100% sure about that. It would be great if it was published in English, because his memoires are a treasure of wonderfull royal anecdotes. The short part I have is already brilliant, imagine what the entire book most contain!
