Hi Stefan22!

I live in a small village called Klaffenbach (Rems-Murr Kreis) ....not far from Schorndorf, Welzheim, Rudersberg and Backnang!! Do you know the area? I know Esslingen, as my husband occasionally goes there for his work....he is normally based in Schorndorf, but sometimes travels to Stuttgart, Esslingen, Ludwigsburg and Schwabish-Gmund.

don't know the village you live but ofcourse i know Schorndorf and the other places in that Area. I often come to Stuttgart for example.

Although not born in Germany, I have been living for many years in a village about 49 kms north east of Stuttgart!

That's not far away from me. Which town is it? I'm from Esslingen.

Heinrich, Editha, Sofie, Hilda, Rupprecht, Gabrielle and Irmingard.
The picture is from the book Antonia von luxembrug,. Bayerns letzte Kronrpinzessin by jean Louis Schlimm. There is also another nice Book written from, Princess Irmingard where she tells about her youth.

Happy Birthday Archduke Otto! You are a grandson of Emperor Franz-Josef of Austria...The only one left, I think.

Otto still has two brothers, Felix (born 1916) and Rudolf (born 1919).

That's true! These two are still left, but to be honest, Archduke Félix already seemed a bit sickly, when I saw him in April during the funeral of his one never knows, but I hope the best that he'll still be around us for a time...

Archduke Rudolf also looks quiet frail. I have seen a picture of him at the recent QWedding od Archduchess Marie Christine and he was sitting in a weelchair.

Hello i'm also from Germany. I live in a town not far away from Stuttgart.

But in 1975 there was not only the Ceremony at the Parliament a few days later there was also a Mass at the San Jeronimo Church which was quiet glittering.

Only recently i found it on youtube:

There are many other spanish Videos in the Links.

1. Will the enthronements of Philip VI and future Sp monarchs be identical to that of Juan Carlos in 1975, or will there be any differences?
2. How are Spanish kings buried? Do they have the same ceremony that the emperors of Austria had?: the funeral cortege arrives at the door of the crypt, which is locked from the inside; they knock; from inside comes the question: WHO IS IT?; the answer: HCM JUAN CARLOS I, KING OF SPAIN; from inside: WE KNOW HIM NOT; the cortege knocks a second time; from inside comes the question: WHO IS IT?; the answer: HCM JUAN CARLOS I, KING OF SPAIN, GRAND MASTER OF THE ORDER OF THE GOLDEN FLEECE, and all the other titles of the King; from inside: WE KNOW HIM NOT; the cortege knocks a third time; from inside comes the question: WHO IS IT?; the answer: JUAN CARLOS, THE MOST UNWORTHY OF THE SERVANTS OF THE LORD, WHO IN HIS LIFE DID COMMIT MORE SINS THAN HAIRS WERE ON HIS HEAD; the door is opened, and the cortege enters the crypt.
3. How many empty coffins are left in the Royal Crypt? Is there a crypt already prepared for when the present crypt is full?

For the second question i don't thiink so. The Funeral Sercvice takes place at the Escorial and they are afterwards brought into a room where the coffins stay for a number of years before the will be transferred in the Pantheon of the Kings. There are only 2 places left in the Pantheon of the Kings which will be used for the parents of King Juan Carlos I. the Count and Countess of Barcelona.

Sorry to be off subject.

Is that a new tiara on Camilla head with the Queen Mother's pearl and diamond necklace (part of the marriage jewels of Queen Alexandra) ?

No it is a Shand Family tiara. She wore it already for her first Wedding and her daughter Laura wore it also on her Wedding Day. The necklace looks like a turquiose necklace.

Thanks ! Where did Marie Coburg stayed when she comes to visit in London ?

Don't know. The information about the Connaughts is from the official Guide Book of Clarence House.

A little bit off track here. Clarence House was Alffie (Duke of Edinburgh/Coburg)'s London's residence. I think at the time of Missy's wedding, the ILN published the interiors of Clarence House. It was b/w, but it did showed a bit on Affie & Marie's interior tastes. I wonder when did Clarence House went back to the crown, after Alffie's death ?

Yes it then became the London Residence of the Duke and Duchess of Connaught.

Interesting that it was in the Hofmobiliendepot!!!  ;) I am still curious about that, because I didn´t have the chance to see that museum until now :)
Yes, I also think Alfonso has strongly that typical kind of face inheritated from his mother´s side. But it´s interesting that his uncle Archduke Friedrich doesn´t look like that at all (in my view!), but as we said his sister´s son, and also Friedrich´s son, Albrecht has typical Hapsburg features, very longish face etc. It´s really interested how this looking is distributed differently among close family members. Do you think that any of Archduchess Sophie´s children share her look? I rather think they resemble their father Archduke Franz Karl, don´t they? It would have been interesting to know about Archduchess Maria Anna´s look, when older, but unfortunately he died so early and was the only daughter of Sophie. It´s a pity about her. But it´s also interesting to me that Franz Joseph I and his wife Elisabeth, who were related over the Wittelsbach side, had certain resemblences in their looks, even when I don´t see special resemblences of Franz Joseph I. to his mother... What do you think about that?

I think the problem was that also Franz I./II. mother Maria Luise of Spain and Maria Theresa's father where siblings and those Franz I./II. and Maria Theresa where 2twice Cousins.

Yes, there were some preparations / alterations made for the Queen Mother's residency there.  However, this was a fraction of what Marlborough House would have required.  Plus, Marlborough House is quite a bit larger than Clarence House, and the operating and maintenance costs would have been greater.

But if Marlborough House was the reisdence of Queen Mary, why should not have become the reisdence of the Queen Mother given it had been avalible in 1952. Is there a chance that marlborough House will again become a Royal Residence can the Commonwealth use it as long as the want/need it.

It also had something to do with $$$$.. Clarnence House had just been remodeled for the Elizabeth and Philip and So very little would have  had to be done for QE the Queen Mum and margaret, when Queen Mary Died, Marlborough House would be empty for a while, and costy to maintain

But there where also renovations done at Clarence House for the Queen Mother before she moved in. For example in the morning there was a new plaster ceiling in which was made her own crown at both ends. And a new doorway wad made to onnect the Morning Room with the Library and from there to the dining Room.

She has. I have the book "Die große Parade" (The big Parade) by J+ürg Stuker,. It describes the life of his relative Robert Stuker who was first teacher of the Princes Amdrew and Christophor and later Chamberlain at the greek royal Court and there a Visit of Grand Duchess Alexandra is described.

And what year she had been in Greece? I still can't find an exact date.

Sorry it is not mentioned when she was there.
