It does not make sense that Olga and Tatiana couldn't smoke when they were 14/16, but the little pair could. That's why I don't think it could have been ages that made them not smoke before the war, but just the fact that they were happy and not depressed.I'm pretty sure they smoked when the war began because they might have been nervous or depressed. I've never heard of them smoking before the war, though.
Before the war, they probably weren't considered old enough to smoke. ;-)

Oh, and one more question. Did OTMA wear wigs when they had their heads shaved in 1917? I don't think they did, since it does not show it in photos that I have seen. But does anybody know for sure? Also, another question. It is like the one Sarushka posted when she first started this topic. Did the public know that OTMA's hair had been shaved off?
