The Alexander Palace / Re: Alexandra's Balcony (Photos)

I havent posted in a long time, but has anyone  got a copy of the picture of AP balcony when it was occupied by soldiers after war (I think)
The people are sitting at a table on the balcony.  It would be interesting to compare the pictures with the time the Royal Family are sitting at the same place.

The Alexander Palace / Re: Why No New Alexander Palace Pictures?

Is it possible to see the right wing?  I would love to see pics of pre-restoration conditions. Also, could you take a pic from the double metal bridges on the other side of channel and looking towards the palace, like the one of alexie and tsar standing there?  That may be too much to ask, but I'd love to see a recent photo and compare from the past. Thanks!

Ok. Fine. I really don't understand why I have upset you. It wasnt meant to criticize, just saying which parts of the palace I find interesting.  Nothing more.

I certainly did not mean to infer any non-positive support.  I think the restoration of the palace is wonderful and exciting, that is the reason I have followed this board for years with great interest.

I can't get your picture to open.  I am also very sad that the children's floor isn't going to be restored.  I am hoping maybe the people in charge will see the swell of interest in NII and family and change their minds.
Does anyone know what is happening to the grounds there at Alexandra's balcony and around to the semi circle balcony? It looks like it has been paved.

Somewhere I think I have seen recent pics of the double metal bridges that are down the avenue from the semi circle balcony and they appear to be painted white.
I would like to kindly ask any of you lucky people that are visitors or local residents of the Alexander Palace to recreate a picture and pose where the tsar and alexie were as they were standing between the two bridges with the palace visible in the background. It seems the photographer was on the other side of the channel.  I am also longing to see a picture in the middle of the two alley paths that lead down to these bridges. There are lots of pics of the green area in the middle of the paths, but none of the paths between the trees.  Lastly, could someone try and take a pic of the tsars garden where the family was working on while under arrest, from the same angles of the well known photos? Maybe there could be a new thread of famous IF photo spots recreated to show before and now. I turn 50 this year and I am becoming more doubtful that I will ever make it to Tsarskoe Selo, so thanks to all on this board for my virtual visits.  Tracy

IMO, The imperial station should be considered historically very important to the story of the imperial family in Tsarskoe Selo. I know funding shortages prohibits preservation of many buildings but to me, the station is exceptional and retaining it should be giving the highest priority.

The double metal bridges at the back of the palace are interesting to me. However, there is a third matching bridge, not sure where in the park and I think that bridge gets mislabeled or misidentified  as the one where tatianna, alexi, and tsar are pictured with guards.  I think the correct bridge has now been restored or repainted,  but if anyone has a recent pic of the exact spot for a now and then comparison I would appreciate it.  thanks, tracy
BTW I think? that the correct spot is the bridge not nearest the parnusus hill, and it would be the right side with back to palace and on the palace side of the bank. Seems like that bridge had some of the metal curls or swirls missing. Maybe souvenir hunters or war damage.

Somewhere on one of the photo sites where you upload your photos, I saw pics of a girl who had old photos of the IF in the park and she was trying to take modern pics of the same spots. I love that idea and wish anyone who is a regular visitor would try and capture the exact spots where any of the IF was photographed. But this girl also had photos of her taking a piece of the flaking exterior paint off of the right wing. I have to say I would love to do the same, even though it is surely not the paint from Imperial times.

Does anyone know if the two metal bridges over the channel have been restored, painted, repaired?  I am especially interested in the bridge where tatianna and nII were photographed while under guard. Also while looking at google earth, it looks like the paths around the semi circle balcony have been paved or something. Any new info of that or the area around the side of alexandra's balcony? thanks tracy
