Thanks for the pictures. Does the family picture give the names of the individuals? There seems to be a hint of that at the edge.

Marc provided us with this portrait of Christian (1798-1869)

Before Friedrich of Saxe-Altenburg the family was known as Saxe-Hildburghausen for four generations. Does anybody have any portraits of these earlier members of the family?

This is a small image of Dona's mother. The painting is in Schloss Glücksburg. I was hoping someone would have a better quality image of this painting. It looks like a Winterhalter. Does anyone have a portrait of her father as a young man? ???

In Schloss Glücksburg there hangs a portrait of Dona's mother. Does anybody have an image of it or any of the rest of Dona's forebears?

Thankyou for that !  :) I wonder if those are based on paintings which still exist? Does anybody know if that branch of the family have a residence where such portraits might exist?

The article in Wikipedia is interesting but inaccurate. It refers to Friedrich Wilhelm being Queen Alexandra's great-grandfather when he was in fact her grandfather!
Unfortunately there's still no picture. Surely the "father-in-law of Europe" had pictures of his parents and that they exist in the public domain. ???

There don't seem to be any pictures of Christian IX's father. Does anybody have any pictures of his parents or grandparents? ???
