Yes, we are just used to seeing the cropped portion of the whole entire pic.

I agree. It was a sisterly bond they both held and it is sacred to them. It was private and should be treated as such. But I understand the fascination it holds to us because it was a beautiful thing.

Are you sure it's Germany? Because when the IF went to Cowes the big pair went on a day trip around the area. And the big pair is much older when they went to Germany.

I hope if someone has a bigger pic of the one burger queen just posted can share because I think baby Anastasia is the reason why almost everyone is the one they are looking upon.

The picture on the frame Nena is asking about must be the pic of Olga holding baby Tatiana and they are on a leather chair/couch. It's in the book camera and the tsars.

Prince Nicholas of Greece's book Nicholas and Alexandra, it states that it was taken at Krasnoe Selo. But now, I think it was taken at Peterhof. Just can't tell where at Peterhof. I don't think it's the Lower Palace. I'm saying this because there is a pic taken the same time from the Yeltsin website.

The shaven heads kind of symbolized the power that was stripped off them. Chilling indeed.

It's neat how the GD's took precedence over their aunt Xenia and Olga. The procession shows their status in the Imperial Rank.

I can't wait for mine to arrive that is why I have been avoiding this thread. But I just got to know so I am so jealous of everyone else who received the book and even finished reading their copy. Not fair but I know I will relish every second of it :)

So the Grand Duke Michael was part of the Tercentenary. I read somewhere that he was banished from Russia until WWI.

Maybe TN stayed behind to be with the Empress. From what I read (could have been Massie's book) that the GD's took turns being with the Empress.
