The Alexander Palace / Obscure AP room photos over the decades?
« Last post by EmHarms on May 13, 2023, 07:42:07 PM »
I'm searching for any photos taken of the servants' rooms on the children's floor - specifically Derevenko's and Nagorny's. Probably no photos exist, but if anyone knows of something, I would be grateful.

I think this entire Forum has died since Covid......................... Ive never seen his letters , but there are many public photos on web.
I hold out hope it can rise again.  Maybe the format is a little obsolete for the 2020's, but I have yet to discover any social media sites that offer the same wide variety that APF does, not to mention the sentimental value it undoubtedly has for many of us

I absolutely agree. Some of these old threads hold obscure photos that have since passed into private collections.

Sadly that's true about the forum.

I have the public photos that are available online but unfortunately too many people have miscaptioned photos that aren't even really Nagorny. My goal is to find obscure information about him aside from the common misinformation. I'm still searching.

I had a quick look through my notes and came up with the following list of *possible females* who *could have* given photos to William Lincoln , feel free to add or correct me.

Tegleva - lived in train in Yekat - married Gilliard , could've taken any photos with her so probably not her.

Tutelberg - Lived in Toblosk house but not in Ipatiev house. Possibilty 1.
Dont know what happened to her.

Madeleine Zanotti - Senior maid - went to Tobolsk , but not in house , left Russia ?
Elizabeth Eltser - Junior maid - went to Tobolsk , but not in house , left Russia ?
Unnamed maid 2 - Junior maid - went to Tobolsk , but not in house , left Russia ?

Buxhoeveden - Lived in train in Yekat , left Russia , took her photos with her.

Narishkin - Elderly & didnt leave TS.

Schneider - Jailed then Shot but could've given her photos to Gilliard ?

Hendrikova - Jailed then Shot but could've given her photos to Gilliard ?

Ersberg - Lived in Toblosk house but not in Ipatiev house. Possibilty 2.
      Died in WW2 in Leningrad.

Demidova - Lived in Ipatiev and shot with everyone else , could've smuggled photos out of house but extremely unlikely.

Vyrubova - not in Ipatiev , escaped to Finland , took her photo albums with her - Now in Yale.

Anna Yakovlevna Utkina - Junior to Tegleva - went to Tobolsk....then unknown ????

Ekaterina Zhivaya - maid to Schneider...............??????

Paulina Kasperovna Mezhants - maid to Hendrikova..............?????

Victorina Vladimirovna Nicholaeva - maid to Hendrikova..............?????

Anna Pavlovna Romanova - unknown junior maid ?????

The Hesse-Darmstadts (Hesse and by Rhine) / Re: Grand Duke Ludwig IV
« Last post by Helen on May 08, 2023, 10:00:36 AM »
In November 1898, an equestrian statue of Grand Duke  Ludwig IV was unveiled next to the Residential Palace in Darmstadt. Military historian Gebhard Zernin wrote a biographical sketch of Ludwig IV on the occasion of this unveiling. It was published as a Festschrift and focuses on his education and military career, portraying him as a soldier in heart and soul who participated bravely in two wars, but also as a humble, kind-hearted, and fair-minded man who cared for his people.

Zernin's old text was recently translated into English for the first time. The translation, supplemented with concise historical background information and an account of the ceremony of the unveiling of the statue, was published in March 2023:
