to the festive and fun atmosphere dispite the occasional splash from above that is.

HM Queen Beatrix, accompanied by HRH Princess Margriet and Prof.mr.Pieter van Vollenhoven will attend the
Remembrance ceremony at the Canadian Field of Honour at Groesbeek this afternoon.

The cemetary, part of the Commonwealth Warcemeteries, was opened by HM Queen Wilhelmina in 1947 and is Canadian Soil,
and 2300 Canadian service men are interred there as they perished in february and march 1945 in the area..

Today starts a row of Remembrance ceremonies in The Netherlands as on may 4th we see the annual Remembrance of the Dead,
commemorating all those who gave their lives in WWII and all missions after that, culminating in the Remembrance ceremony at the
National Monument,Amsterdam tomorrow may 4th.

The sacrifices of those who died are held in very high esteem to this day, thank goodness and rightfully so.
The Veterans still are welcomed as family and Heroes in one by all here.

This day we had Remembrance of the Dead in the Netherlands. We remember those who have died during World War II and in wars after that.
It is a custom that during the Remembrance Ceremony Queen Beatrix, The Prince of Orange and Princess attend and that they show their respect.

Then we have 2 minutes of silence at 8 o'clock (in the evening) for remembering who has lost their lives. But this time this happened:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0RRXy-MACo

A guy began to shout, and still the attack in our memory at the Royal Family during the celebration of Queens Day 2009 the crowd panicked.

As Teddy already said there was a disturbance during the two minute silence.A guy started to shout knowing full well that would cause
mahem on a totally silent moments with a crowd of tens of thousands on a packed square in front of the National Monument.
Two guys have been arrested, one for the shouting and that was a diliberate action and the other for screaming he would drop a suitcase...

HM and TRH were ushered away quickly but as no-one knew better at the time it was said that someone felt unwell and the scream for help caused the panic. It wasn't that.

HM insisted however,on continuing the ceremony in Remembrance of the Dead of WW II and all missions after that, and she walked arm in arm with her son and Máxima to her place again under loud applaus by the crowd that either remained or returned to their places.HM was visibly shaken and moved by the applaus,a Lady in Waiting was seen in tears while the National Anthem was sung right after HM had taken her place again.Very moving, and a bit of a shocker too.

But HM showed again what the Orange Nassaus stand for, they are not among the fainthearted,HM showed courage, perseverence and thus is an example to all of us.
After the ceremony HM again, insisted on visiting the wounded,as there are dozens with fractures and other injuries whom are attended to on a nearby square.
HM and TRH attended too and visited the wounded.

Unbelieveble, that a solemn moment as this,THE most solemn annual Remembrance in our country, was disturbed by two idiots like this.

After a traumatic event last year Queensday, everyone is still edgy as we here are all aware it takes only one and only one instant to cause a drama.

A press conference by the Mayor ai of Amsterdam will start within a few moments.

Over 50 people are wounded, one severely, the others have fractures and headwounds.Disgusting, that a criminal,a wellknown one,was able to disturb, and thus, caused panic on such a scale. Not just zero tolerance policy, but as far as I am concerned,a point blank policy too in this case,as the dutch judicial system is an absolute farce.

As the Royal Party returned to the Square to continue the ceremony, they were applauded by the tens of thousands present,
and, very unusual, there was a huge round of applause after the National Anthem was played too which is usually followed
by silence or a roar when in a football stadium. This was different..

As I said HM and TRH visited the wounded at the Groote Industrieele Club, but on her way home to The Hague,HM
got a call that there were also wounded, mostly fractures, taken in in the Royal Palace in Amsterdam,so she requested
her chauffeur tot turn and returned to Amsterdam seeing to the wounded in the Palace till late tuesday evening,22.30PM,and then drove home.

Last night saw the traditional annual Concert at the Amstel River here, and again HM attended as she always does.
The cheers from the crowds were deafening and moving as she walked from the Royal Theater Carré to her place on the ponton in the river.

Beautifull concert, thousands and thousands lining the river, its bridges, the whole area and a wonderful atmosphere, all hailing HM.
The most wonderfull sight.
