Today,may 4th,is Remembrance of the Dead in The Netherlands as we Remember the Dutch dead,both military and civilian,
of WW II and all wars and missions since.
HM The Queen and TRH The Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima will attend the National Remembrance Service at the
Nieuwe Kerk,Amsterdam this evening after which HM and the Prince will lay a wreath at the National Monument on
Dam Square.Two minutes silence will be observed at 20.00PM,all National Flags will fly at halve mast.
HRH Princess Margriet and Pieter van Vollenhoven will attend the Remembrance at the National Field of Honour at the
Grebbeberg,Rhenen,the venue of fierce fighting in the first days of WW II as many Dutch military lost their lives there.
Tomorrow,may 5th,is Liberation as we celebrate Freedom and the capitulation of German forces in The Netherlands
and Japanese forces in the former Dutch East Indies,present day Indonesia.
HM The Queen will attend the Liberation Day concert on the Amstel river,Amsterdam in the evening of the 5th.
