Well...Alicky wasn't universally loved. She certainly did not help her husband in the PR department (unlike her mother-in-law, who was the mistress of that). Instead with her limited knowledge and deep rooted prejuduces push Russia towards ruin.

I think Edward VIII for me. Selfish and no concept of duty. Put himself before all other matters and did great damage to the Crown. But of course we got George VI who must be one of the best Kings we have had in a while, and of course his daughter.

Henry VIII for the damage he did to the contry and the Church, some of which continues to this day. Again selfish.

Charles Prince of Wales also strikes me as selfish and self centered. Not sure he will make a good king or not we shall have to see so long as his wife is not crowned Queen.

Princess Margaret I both like and dislike. Reasons as mentioned by others.

Princess Michael of Kent again for the same reasons as mentioned by others.

GD Cyril for the act of treason to the IF when they needed him the most at the AP and his marching to the Duma to swear allegiance to them. Disgusting and unforgivable.

Bloody Mary for the way in which she treated her subjects who were not Catholic and her contempt for the people.

GD Maria V for her seemingly grasping attempts at the Crown and they way she deals with other members of the Romanov family.

Tsar Paul for the Pauline laws that have caused no end of problems since.

With you on the Pauline laws - an attempt to regulate the succession might have been needed but so much of it was spite and mysogeny directed at his mother.

Yes...If not for them. Olga could have been heir...and there will be no Rasputin...

If Olga had been heir just imagine where we would be today! If only Nicholas had changed the law to allow this or at least name her so much could have been avoided. I have never really understood why he did not. Even with Alexis they knew he may not live beyond his teens and Michael was married to a lady who could not be Empress and unless he wanted Kyrill to assend he could have changed it to Olga and then his children would all have been in line. It was only Nicholas and Alexandra who were hated by the people not his children who could have done so  much to restore the dynasty to its proper place.

If Olga had married Dimitri as well, a popular member of the family before and after Rasputin, I think they would have been loved by the people maybe.

I agree...However I doubt Dimiti had the backbone to be Tsar. The only one with the popularity and proven ability in some area was the Grand Duke Nicholas (Nicholasha). Even Nicky was intimidated by this Uncle when they met face to face. Also Michen and her sons would not step aside without a fight. Haaaaaaa...If only Misha had married Baby Bee, they could have been a power couple. Bee certainly with Marie Coburg would have been able to deal with Michen...

Michael HR- I do not think Nicholas could have arbitrarily change the laws of succession.  He was archly conservative and indecisive. Legally, it may have taken  the council, Church, law courts and Duma to do so. This is one reason why his abdication for Alexei  is considered by some to have been illegal.
 As for other least favourite monarchs, I would put Leopold II at the top of my list, [butcher of the Congo]. Bokassa of Central Africa, Henry VIII, George IV, just for a start.

another of my least favorite royals is - Wallis, duchess of windsor. i dont hate her i know she went through a lot but my grandma still says she stole the king!
