Ramon' - estate of the Oldenburgs

In 1879 Princess Eugenia of Oldenburg, nee Princess Eugenia of Leuchtenberg, a daughter of GDss Maria Nikolayevna and spouse of Prince Alexander of Oldenburg, became an owner of a vast estate  Ramon' not far from Voronezh (in fact Emperor Alexander II presented an estate to his niece). The mansion/castle in English style was built there in 1883-1887 years.

I didn't find any pictures of the interiors and seems now they are all lost as from 1917 year the mansion had been a place for variuos Soviet institutions.

In 1880s-1917 years the estate Ramon' was famous for its sulfitation factory. In 1907 the most of the estate lands was lapsed to the IF and the Oldenburgs kept in their own only Olgino , an estate nearby that had been built in 1901-1902 years for Prince Petr (son of Eugenia) and his wife GDss Olga Alexandrovna.

Svetabel, do you know any more as to how the bulk of the estate ended up "lapsed to the IF"?  I'm curious as to how something like that would occur.

The Oldenburgs were heavy in debt, also the estate had been hit in the 1905-1906 years (when peasants burnt the pomestchik's arable areas and mansions). So the State (the IF) bought the bulk of Ramon'.

Just a month ago the castle was put up for rent and...no results of this auction. Seems no one wants to rent or buy the mansion. The locals believe the mansion is a cursed place with ghosts.

Petr or his mother were not haemophiliacs.This is a perfect nonsense. An author of such revelations heard the song but got it wrong. Actually Princess Eugenia sometimes suffered from bleeding/hemorrhage but not of haemophilia.

Here's an article discussing the incident Svetabel mentioned. The estate was actually attacked before 1905, in 1902. I wouldn't be surprised, though, it was attacked again during the Revolution of 1905.

St. Petersburg, April 30 - Duke Alexander of Oldenburg's celebrated Chateau of Romone, in the Government of Voronezh, Southern Russia, has been burned by peasants, who practically ruined the estate. The Duke if the father-in-law of the Czar's sister Olga, who married Duke Peter of Oldenburg last year.

The seriousness of the situation in Southern Russia is apparent from the fact that M. Dragomiroff, Governor General of Kiev; M. Pocarcoff, Vice Director of the Police, and other officials have joined M. Plehve, the Minister of the Interior at Kharkov.

The Voronezh sugar refineries have especially suffered from the outbreak.

In military circles it is believed that the army maneuvers which were to be held in Orel and Kursk cannot take place, owing to the disturbed state of those Governments.

There's a TV show here in the USA called "Ghost Hunters International." Whoever owns the Ramon mansion should call this team to settle the matter regarding ghosts being in the castle.

A bit McMansion-looking, but not by far as odd-looking as many other châteaux in English brick Neo-Gothic, especially in Germany.

Does anyone know of any photos of this villa, inside or outside? And how much time did Olga actually spend there? Where did she stay during the time she was taking OTMA into St. Petersburg?
