I remember once that Alexandra tried to get all the girls to go out horseback riding but only Tatiana was persuaded (most likely just to please her mother); all the other girls were too lazy and instead went to the hospital to play with the babies!

For those who don't speak Russian (my Russian is a bit rough at the moment, but this is the basic idea):
The first link shows a granite statue sculpted by Khalramov Matvej Jakovlevich (1870 - 1930). It was opened on August 26th, 1911 and the inscription reads, "To comrades fallen in war. 1904 - 1905." It was devoted to the soldiers of the 148th Caspian Infantry who had died in battles of the Russo-Japanese war of 1904 and the donations for it came from other officers.
The second shows various emblems of the infantry.
