Kissing the Shadow of the Tsar

Please tell me if there is already another thread about this.

I either read, or heard somthing like this

"Kissing the shadow of the Holy Russian Tsar, is proven to be holy and lucky"

is this a myth? did people acutally get on the ground and kiss Tsar Nicholas II's shadow?
please expand on this thought.

Can't remember seeing a thread about this one before.

I remember reading about this somewhere too, and from what I could surmise, it was a myth.  Seeing as how many of the Russian populace considered the Tsar a sort of demi-god, kissing his shadow was like kissing the aura of a god.  So whenever the Tsar would tour a local village or town, many people would not only bow, but also kiss his shadow in hopes of blessings and tidings.

Don't mention it ;)

The only documentation that I've seen thus far (let alone remember) were in Romanov photo albums where such a topic had its own photo.  There might be a tiny hint in Massie's Nicholas and Alexandra, or any book by Marc Ferro.

Just like any shadow. Kneel down over the shadow, bend down and kiss it. In reality the person would be kissing the ground.
