I believe that it's her son Christian Victor.

Interesting Keith, thank you :)
Are there any photos of Helena individual at the coronation of her brother Edward VII or nephew George V ? I've seen one of Beatrice with Ena at Edwards coronation on the forum.

I've always thought this necklace rather unusual-almost medieval looking!-apparently it was a wedding gift from Queen Victoria. I wonder what became of it?
One of the jewellery sites records the diamond hairpins in the form of flowers had belonged to the Duchess of Kent & was given to Helena by her mother, and a large diamond star in the middle of her hair, a wedding present from her favourite brother Alfred.....the provenance of such pieces is so interesting!

It always suprises me when Helena is described as plain & unattractive I think her matronly figure added to a handsome & majestic image!

To me,he sounds like an interesting personality who was "so cool" about various things and he wasn't dragged up into whole S-H question although he obviously had his own opinion and also wasn't so radical defending it like Alexandra.I mean he had tact.

.There isn't still any portrait of Christian?(alone)

I am intrigued by the Gravenstein (Graasten) photographer, the master of the portrait above, sporting the title of court photographer! I guess the too small coat of arms is the clue, but would that be to the Prussian court in faraway Berlin or the more nominal than actual Augustenburg court?

Good question, but the coat of arms is to small for me to tell. But since Gravenstein (Graasten) was the only palace the Augustenburgs used in the Duchies, it could be they had a court photographer there. Then again the Augustenburg connection to Prussia, Empress Victoria Augusta "Dona" would visit her brother Ernst Günther at Gravenstein, could mean he was appointed by the Prussian court.

I'm a big fan of Helena and Christian and I've even got some of my non-history-obsessed friends interested with tales of Christian's glass eye collection. Morbid people I know. :-)

What year were those photos taken Rani?? My guess is in the 1860s at some time, but I'm not really sure. The way they're displayed looks quite unusual.
