This photo shows 12 of the 14 granddaughters of Queen Olga!  The two missing are Marie Pavlovna and Princess Eugenie.
From left to right:
Princesses Sophie, Katherine, Cecilie, Marina, Theodora, Xenia Georgievna, Margarita, Elisabeth, Helen (with the crown), Nina Georgievna, Olga, and Irene.

Note how the sisters wear matching oufits if they are near the same age.  I got this somewhere on Birgette's site, but had to ID the ladies myself, and I'm pretty sure I've got them right.

Thanks for the IDs.  :)  I got the photo from a wedding issue from Marina's wedding but they didn't identify anyone!  :(

Here's the other one mentioned--of Olga with her granddaughters.

There was also one of her taken with her children around the same time. Was it an anniversary of some sort?

Lovely picture indeed, but left to right is:Sophia, Catherine, Cecilia, Marina, Margarita, Xenia,
Theodora, Olga, Helen, Nina, Elisabeth and Irene.

But why is Maria and Eugenia are missing?

I think both were in France when this picture was taken.

Thanks for the corrections!  I'm forever getting Margarita and Dolla mixed up in photos, but I think Dolla had a thinner nose.  I know Maria lived in France during the 1920s, and didn't have much money so that could be why she is missing.  Eugenie, I believe, also lived in France at that time, but I don't know why she didn't go to this family get-together.

I wanted to dedicate this thread to all the granddaughters of Queen Olga of Greece, from the Royal families of Greece or Russia.

I invite members of this forum to participate by posting pictures of these Princesses renowned for both their beauty, their charm, their elegance and nobility of great heart.

Thank you in advance.

Since the topic is Olga's granddaughters (and the present Queen of Spain would be great-granddaughter, Olga--Constantine--Paul--Sophie), I would presume the request was about Prince Philip's sister Sophie. If so, there's a thread on her with some photos.

Some threads to check for photos of the various granddaughters:

Does anyone know what kind of relationship, if any, Queen Olga had with her oldest granddaughter, Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna the Younger? I know that after Olga's daughter, Grand Duchess Alexandra, died and Grand Duke Paul remarried morganically, Maria and her brother Grand Duke Dmitri were raised by their uncle, Grand Duke Serge and his wife, Grand Duchess Elizabeth. Did Maria have much access to her Greek relatives. I know she was in Hesse-Darmstadt for the wedding of Prince Andrew to Princess Alice of Battenburg in 1903.
According to Maria, after Serge was assasinated, Elizabeth married her off to Prince Wilhelm of Sweden. What did Olga think of Maria's marriage?
Also, how did Maria feel about her mother's remains being moved from Russia to Greece?

Maria's Greek relatives were surprised and  irritated by her early marriage, seemed her Grandfather King Georg I was very upset. Queen Olga in her turn was a very sweet Grandmother and too kind a person to squall about the whole deal, so they were just upset that Maria married in an early age and without consulting with them on the subject.

I don't think Maria Pavlovna had a very close relationship with her Greek relatives and I've often wondered why that is.  She talks little about them in her autobiographies although I believe she did interact with Olga and her great-grandmother somewhat in Russia.

Marie spent so much of her life sort of wandering, "lost", or detached from her family members.  The Greek RF was so different than the Russian one, and I think Marie would have found a strong sense of family, acceptance, and love among them had she chose to identify with them.

However, the many exiles of the Greek RF may have made this somewhat difficult....

Yes. Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna seemed to have such a sad life. She seemed emotionally detached from everyone - a prime example is her relationship (or lack of) with her son Prince Lennart of Sweden. It's no wonder. She grew up without her natural parents, was married off young and into a foreign country, and then the Russian Revolution resulted in the deaths of many other relatives or their exile.
did seem to have a strong bond with younger brother, Grand Duke Dmitri. Her uncle, Grand Duke Serge, seemed affectionate with the two - but again she lost him, too. it is very sad to not see in her a real connection with family and a wandering lifestyle. But I guess normal to one is abnormal to another.
