I don't keira Knightely would be right to play any of them, I don't know i suppose she's just too modern. However i suppose it all rests on her perfromance in the new pride and Prejudice film, that would give us a good indication on weather she would be right for a historical part.

I thought Glenn Close would do a good job as Alix
after I saw this picture of her in an icon:

she looks quite tragic here ;)

I love how in the book Nicholas and Alexandra by Robert K. Massie we learn that Balanchine met the Tsarina and described her "beautiful, like Grace Kelly."

I think Janet Suzman is gorgeous.

i think miranda richardson was cast wrongly in the lost prince ;) she would have made a good alix
perhaps if they had made another film, grace kelly could have been alix :D

Alexis Bledel might play a young Maria, but she's a bit too skinny.

A young Vivien Leigh(in Gone With the Wind), could've played Tatiana. Lynne Frederick could have played Olga (she shouldn't have played Tatiana, she didn't look like her). Anne Hathaway could play Marie, Kirsten Dunst could be Anastasia.

P.S: in Nicholas and Alexandra, does anyone notice that Lynne Frederick's eyes look almost hazel?

I agree that it would be difficult to place already well known faces as members of the Imperial family. Realistically, what is most important in casting someone for one of "the seven" would depend more upon how they carry the role rather than how closely they resemble the family. Granted, it is important for the actor to at least be in the ballpark with a resemblance, but I believe the talent of the actor/actress is more important (obviously).

If I were casting for a new Romanov movie, I have a feeling that I would simply be able to say "That's Olga," as sort of a gut reaction in an audition. We know so much, and are so passionate, about this family that it wouldn't be difficult to know who would be able to do justice to what we think these people were like.  :)

He played Alexei in Nicholas and Alexandra. I thought it was an excellent portrayal, and wondered what happened to him after the movie? I have only been able to find this one credit. Anyone know anything? Thanks.

Louis_Charles,

He seems to be a mysterie. On the web I've seen other people asking about his whereabouts, no results. You might get the impression R.Noble wasn't his real name.

Roderic Noble (no "k" in Roderic) only made the one film, according to imdb -- the definitive movie info database.  I've googled him and nothing comes up but a few references to Nicholas and Alexandra, mostly articles by reviewers that give Noble a passing mention.

Maybe he did some stage work?
