I also wonder about Candice Glendenning who played Maria... she was one of the most beautiful actresses I have ever seen... I heard rumors she commited suicide, but no one has shown any proof of it, and I don't believe anything without proof.

Roderic Noble (no "k" in Roderic) only made the one film, according to imdb -- the definitive movie info database.  I've googled him and nothing comes up but a few references to Nicholas and Alexandra, mostly articles by reviewers that give Noble a passing mention.

Maybe he did some stage work?

I have never been able to find a trace of him after the movie. Massie mentions him, I think, in his book Journey, as attending a large party for the premiere of the movie, but as one of those who came afterwards --- I think he and the four actresses that played the sisters were latecomers --- but I have never been able to track him down from that point.

It's a shame. I actually like the movie, but his performance was a lot better than the script. There is a moment, just before the execution, when Alexei realizes what is going to happen and kisses Nicholas on the cheek. Very moving.

So, I'm curious.....after Natalie Wood's untimely death, who took over the role of Anastasia?  Or did they simply cancel the show?

HI John,

Natalie passed before the show opened so
As far as I was aware the show was  cancelled.

I tried to do a little research on it last night, but all that is mentioned on the Internet was that it was announced and she died.

I too thought she was very beautiful....because she always reminded me of Snow White!!!  But I've never heard the rumor that she killed herself.

I know that Lynn Frederick, who played Tatiana died from alcoholism.  Fiona Fullerton, whoplayed Anastasia, went on to play Alice in "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", alongside Michael Jayston as Lewis Carroll.  The she was a Bond Girl in  "A View to a Kill" and played Quinevere opposit the late Richard Harris in a London revival of "Camalot".

Yes, both Lynne and Fiona went on to have pretty lucrative careers in acting.  I never heard about the "Camelot" thing with Fiona so that's pretty neat.  The rumors about Candice G. started on one of these threads; I'm not sure which one.

I think that the cast album for Camelot is out of print.  But if anyone would like a copy, I have it and will happily copy it for snyone, at no charge.  Just email me....

No, he plays Anakin in Episode II and III.  Jake Lloyd wsa the little boy who played Anakin in Episode I.  Christensen, while very very very good looking, is an AWFUL actor.  Haha.

He's a bit too old now. (Jake Lloyd)

By the way, I've seen Keira Knightley's name in this thread a couple times and a few people said she was too modern- and I agree. I also think she is a TERRIBLE actress- only 2 facial expressions and all her movies run together in my mind.

I disagree with people whom say Keira Knightly is a bad actress.  I actually think she is a good actress but has not been given lots of variety.  I am looking forward to watching her portrayal of Anne Boleyn if the rumors are true that she will be playing anne in the upcoming film "The Other Boleyn Girl"

I have changed my mind about who I would cast in a remake of N&A

Nicki... I am still unsure

Alix... Oddly enough, I can see Susan Sarandon playing her.  She is a beautiful tall red head and can be very elegant if need be.  She is also a wonderful actress.

Alexie:  I'm not sure what his name is but he played young George in the movie "The Lost Prince"

Olga:  Keira Knighly.  She is tall (but not too tall; 5ft 7') blonde, a good actress, and bears some resemblence to the real Olga.

Tatiana:  Emmy Rossum.  Think about it she is very tall (5ft 9') Auburn hair, very soft spoken, very thin,  and absolutly elegant.

Maria:  Anne Hathaway. Duh.  I think she is just great; she is "healthier" looking than the first two girls mentioned she is also taller than Keira and shorter than Emmy (The same way it was with the sisters)  She's got gorgeous eyes (the color can be changed with contacts) and is very well known for many of her wholesome roles.

Anastasia:  The toughest one for me.  Even though she bears no resemblence to the actual GD, I think Emma Watson would be a good in this role.  She is shorter than the other girls (5ft 6'), and she just seems very charming and could play the jokester.

Well I am open for any comments.

I really believe that if someone were to remake Nicholas and Alexandra or any other movie about the IF, they would not choose well known actors/actresses to play the family. You may need at least one or two known faces for some of the leads, as in Rasputin. Otherwise, it's better to get some unkown talent, which sometimes is much more impressive than the talent we already known of.

Actresses like Kiera Knightly have too big of a fanbase for such a role. She wouldn't be cast. I don't think she could do the real Olga justice.

I remember the announcement of her death in a news break on television.
She was very beautiful and I loved her films but I never thought she looked very much like a Romanov.  I know Maria Feodorovna had dark eyes but didn't Anastasia have blue/grey eyes?

I think Hollywood could wig somebody and it would look amazingly realistic, so you have to be more careful with the face. I thought if you put the girl who played Leisl is the sound of music in a dark wig, she would look a bit like Tatiana because they both have the slender figure and a beauty that looks more natural. They both have soft features and nice smiles.
