It would be interesting if they could interview him for a 40th anniversary edition of the movie - provided he's still alive, of course.

Would be intresting to ask all the main actors from the films of their views after all these years. I wonder what research they did for their parts etc.

That would be hard, seeing as that the actress that played Tatiana died.
I'm back on my bull****.

True but the others are alive, I think. The ones that played the girls did not have much or anything to say in the film as such but the main players might be intresting.

I know that Janet Suzman was initially reluctant to accept the role of Alexandra. It was said at the time that Rex Harrison was considered to play Nicholas, but of course he would have been too old, and too tall.

I've noticed that in this Nicholas and Alexandra and Romanovy: Ventsenosnaya Semya (and probably other movies about the Romanovs), the actors who play Alexei are almost unknown. The only thing known about these actors (Roderic Noble in N&A, Vladimir Grachyov in R:VS) is their name and the fact that they played Alexei. They've never done any other movies. There aren't even any pictures of them.

I think they probably choose kids who can act that don't really want some big acting career to play Alexei.

Has anyone ever noticed this?

Never thought about it like that....however, there is one young lad who played Alexei. I'm sure this guy is kinda famous...:-)

Christian Bale made his film debut as Tsarevich Alexei Nikolaevich of Russia in the made-for-television film Anastasia: The Mystery of Anna in 1986.

Indeed, I did notice that too.

But I know how hard it is sometimes to act, last year we did a play with school and they asked me to play the leading role. Actually they forced me, believe me there is allot of presuare when you act, and when people tell how good you are it's even harder because you wanna do better. I don't consider a carreer in acting, But enaugh about me for now.

Roderic was great as Alexei, to be honest i choke up by the end of Nicholas and Alexandra when Alexei kisses his father sensing te end is near, it really did touch me, even if it isn't acurate. Also the scene in Tobolsk after Alexei's suicide attempt(i refuse seeing it like that) is really strong when Alexei tells his father he should've had a chance... You really sense that Alexei knows what is about to happen...

I believe they all knew that death was a very strong possibility but did not expect it to happen when it did as shown by the words of the Tsar when told "what, what". It maybe they thought there would some sort of trial first and one never expects death until we stare it in the face. But he was a good actor with what he was given and a shame we never heard from him again.

True, ofcourse,

Spoken about that, they indeed expected some kind of trial, but I think Nicholas and Alix migt have been thinking that the children would be spared and then all of the sudden you hear that you get killed, allong with your whole family. What must have been in their minds at that moment, I guess we'll never be able to imagine it.

Sellers was known throughout the motion picture industry as being an unparalled comic genius, but his attributes as a human being apparently left much to be desired. As a kid growing up in the 1960's, I first saw A Shot in the Dark and the film remains to this day one of my favorite movies.

I would say Aleksandr Galibin in Romanovy. Personally my favorite Nicky, but Michael Jayston is pretty close.

I think the best performance was by Ian Mckellen, but the actor who looked more like him was Michael Jayston.

But I'm still expecting a film version with Dmitry Medvedev. Put a little beard on his face,  dress him up in a uniform, give him a few lines and you've got Nicholas II! :)
