I think Scarlett Johansson in "Girl With a Pearl Earring" looks a lot like Tatiana.

The actress who played Alexandra in the marvelous film "Russian Ark".
Don't recall her name at the moment.
The little girl in the back is supposed to be Anastasia, who Alexandra stopped playing with some palace "friends" so she would come to tea.

By the way Grand Duke, is "The Barber of Siberia" (1998) availible in English?

Here is the orginial cover of the 1976 movie Nicholas and Alexandra. I adore this movie! However, there are no screenshots availible. You can see Micheal jayston as Nicholas, Janet Suzman as Alexandra, Tom Baker as Rasputin, and Roderic Noble as Alexei. All the portrayals were superb with the cast above (perhaps sans Alexei)
and the Grand Duchess actresses did a good job, but they didn't look anything like them! Sadly, the actresses who played Tatiana and Maria have since died.
(Lynne Frederick &
Candace Glendenning)

I was aware of Lynne Frederick's death, but when did Candace Glendenning die, and what was the cause?

Personally I think if someone did make a movie about the Romanovs they should get new fresh faced unknown actresses to play OTMA

Hi Janet,

She committed suicide, you can read about it on this thread reply 154 from Lanie:

Personally I think this thread belongs in the Films and TV-shows sector. It happens all the time members starting a knew thread that already exist.

I agree, this topic should be moved to the film section but until it is here's one from the miniseries Anna: The Riddle of Anna Anderson

Rex Harrison (GD Cyril), Amy Irving (Anna/Anastasia), Olivia de Havilland (Empress Marie Feodorovna).

It also has Omar Sharif as Nicholas II and (I think) Claire Bloom as Empress Alexandra. Also Susan Lucci as 'Princess Darya' who is basically Princess Xenia (daughter of 'Greek Minny')
They also serve who only stand and wait--John Milton

NICHOLAS & ALEXANDRA

Ivan Marevich (Tsar Nicholas) and  Ingeborga Dapkunaite (Tsarina Alexandra) in "The Lost Prince" (2003) of Stephen Poliakoff.

I read all the reviews from amazon.com and from what i infer the "Lost Prince" isn't Alexei, but he's supposed to be a prince from the German or English side of the family. So who is it? Alexei, or someone else?  ???

In case others don't know, Lynne died from Alcholic reasons. She was so pretty in N&A.  :'(
Irene Worth who played Minnie recently died of a stroke as well.

SORRY...

Don't worry--there are so many topics it's hard to keep track.  :)

moonlight--The Lost Prince is about Prince John (youngest son of GV & QM). There's a lot about the movie in the Windsor section and probably in the film section as well.
They also serve who only stand and wait--John Milton
