Romanovy: ventsenosnaya semya is simply one of the best Romanovs movies made so far! Everyone is acting well, but especially the actresses/actors playing the grand-duchess' and Aleksei. The young Volodya Gratchev is so endearing as Aleksei! You will like the movie I'm sure!

How can I find a copy?

You can watch it with English subtitles on the Frozen tears website...

Sorry it must be English-dubbed, subtitles murder what little sight I have.

It should be okay; I have not an extremely good eyesight myself, and I didn't have any problems to see the subtitles! But you shouldn't let that stop you from watching the movie, it's that good!  :)

I can't even watch my copy of Crouching Tiger because I can't read the subtitles, and that's if I'm right up close to the TV. (my copy is VHS, I want to get DVD tomorrow, hopefully it'll be dubbed like my copy of Hero) I'd really prefer a dubbed version of the Romanov movie. I tried Amazon but couldn't seem to find it.

You can try to download the files on Frozen Tears and make your own DVD, or you can wait until next month; I have received a e-mail from AV Film Distribution Inc that announces that the official region 1 DVD of the movie, with English subtitles, will be available in October 2007. I myself am waiting for more news soon.

It would do me no good to download the movie since it has subtitles, I don't know Russian so I can't dub it myself. I wouldn't even know how to do that, I have no equipoment for it.

Absolutely, as long as it's dubbed!

Every time I see actress Olivia Williams I always think of Tsarina Alexandra.  If you watch her in Peter Pan (2003) she just looks so perfect.  Even when I was reading "The White Russian," "The Romanov Prophecy," and "The Kitchen Boy" I had her in my head the entire time.  Does anyone else agree she would make a perfect Alexandra in a movie?

Yeah she would actually be perfect. They can age her with make up etc, but if they made a new movie they would start it when Alexandra looks about the age Olivia is now.

Perhaps she might get away with it. Her hair would need to be changed as the colour is all wrong. Costume of course could help. She looks though far too alert to play the pensive and disturbed Alexandra Feodorovna. She sure would have some research to do to do justice to the role.

I have just realised who she is. She is an actress who can actually ACT, a vast improvement on a lot of the scenery-chewing starlets around these days.
