That's what I heard as well! I seriously do believe the female remains to be Anastasia's. Honestly, there aren't enough similarities in regards to wound placements and types on the body from the original grave to assure it was Anastasia.....they all correlated with the wounds Maria is said to have been inflicted with in the cellar. Not to mention the fact that Demidova, Alexandra's "parlour maid" as Yurovsky put it, was stout and plump exactly as Anastasia was at the time of her slaughter. This in essence goes with the idea that Yurovsky said he burned "Demidova's" body thus making this mistake on physical appearances (he couldn't judge by faces as the malicious b*stards had caved them in with rifle butts), and only looking at their bodies. I say this because not only was Maria taller than Demidova to have been mistaken for her, BUT she had thinned out previous to 1915. I'm more or less saying that Anastasia would have been far more likely to be thought of as the pleasantly plump servant than Maria..........

Those are my thoughts exactly. I've never understood how one can think the missing girl to be Maria. There is actually nothing that points to her at all!! If you've noticed, they keep lowering the age as time goes on so now the remains are Anastasia's age.  ::)

I didn't realize until you mentioned it, but they are lowering the age! It used to be around 21 I think.

Yeah, at first it was 19-21 year old girl. Then it was 18-19. Now it's like 16-17. Anastasia's age.

That report was back in August.  I was referring to something that was written more recently.

Ironically, I did find something of an update, or at least from a later date:

There was a very recent update, but according to the official experts, they do not admit to releasing anything on their work, and say they will not make a statement until all the work is done later this spring. You can read all the updates on the first stickied thread in "Forum Announcements."

There have been plenty of "updates", but Cody specifically asked for Bloomberg.  A simple Google [under "news"]  brings up several items.

Nikolai Nevolin who is in charge of the scientific Inquiry never issued a Preliminary Report to the media.

Bloomberg noticed an Interfax article and ran with it without checking. Interfax was in error. They failed to contact Dr Nevolin on the matter before they published their article.

The fact that most other Russian media including the TV stations did not take up the Interfax "story" should indicate to you all that there was a "problem".

No results will be released by Nikolai Nevolin, until the U. S. laboratories have concluded their analyses.

Therefore do not expect any official news from Russia before April or May at the earliest.

That's what I meant, the new Bloomberg one from Jan. 22 this thread was started for. Only Bloomberg and Interfax had reported the latest news bit, though as FA said it was only a repeat.

Why be so concerned about erroneous reporting in the media?

Patience is the best guide for the moment.

Yes, I think it is so...

One thing; the Russian experts were saying that the female was, according to estimations, aged between 16 and 18; wouldn't that be Anastasia's age rather than Mariya's ?

I don't know if the remains are enough to make some kind of restructuration, a bit like they did for King Tut?

Supposedly, according to spinal bone fusions on the girl previously found, she was too old to have been Anastasia, which added to beliefs that Anastasia was the missing girl through whatever circumstance.  This girl, it seems, was young enough to be Anastasia.

Not to mention all of the wounds inflicted on the skeleton from the initial grave correlated with those ascribed to those Maria is said to have suffered...
