As far as I know, the Orleans family seldom marry morganetically (even today). So the Harcourts must be considered of equal standing for the marriage to be celebrated. Like the Hapsburgs considered the Croys worthy of an equal marriage.

I am sure you are correct about that.  But the Orleans have a long history of  unequal partnerships , even if ex-Gotha. My guess about the Harcourts is that they were enobled and considered Peers.

I am sure about the ennobled part at least in England, but it seems that the French accept that too (which I found interesting).

Yes. Harcount Family does have lineage back to the Conquerer.

I dont know. For pictures i always assumed she was blonde.

Maybe she dyed her hair or there is a chance that the natural color of her hair can be viewed as blonde or slightly ginger + freedom of the artist!

....Later, he was transferred in Dreux (France). The pic shows duchesse of Guise out of Notre-dame of Paris after a massrequiem for his brother.
