Anyone here claim a Tudor in their ancestral line or by marriage? Just curious. I like genealogy.

Through my 2nd great aunt's great uncle, I'm a distant relative of the Howard family of Norfolk, Anne Boleyn, and Queen Elizabeth I.

Not a drop! ;-)  And I'm very proud of my descent from peasants and the working classes.

But mr. jehan is probably descended from Sir William Kingston, who was Constable of the Tower in Tudor times.  (He's the one to whom Anne Boleyn said "I have a little neck". )
Not a royal, but a connection with the times.

Being a genealogy buff myself, I think this thread might have some life left in it.

Tudor ancestry is rare, as of course Henry VIII had no grandchildren.  There are the descendants of Margaret Tudor, through her granddaughter Mary Queen of Scots and King James I and VI, who comprise most of the present day royal families.  I'm not sure, but Charles Brandon and Mary Tudor may have descendants in the female line.

But there should be many people out there w/ Plantagenet descents, which are very interesting for discussion.

My aunt's husband, José Calvo-Sotelo, descends on his mother's side from Therese von Mecklenburg-Strelitz, niece of George III's Queen. You can trace her ancestry back to Edward III, and probably some other English kings. So he has his share of Plantagenet blood!

José Pedro Calvo-Sotelo Olry de Labry (1948), son of

Jacqueline Olry de Labry (1921-2000), daughter of

Germaine de Fontenilliat (1880-1980), daughter of

Philippe Alexandre Paul de Fontenilliat (1853-1933), son of

Marie Helene von Krüdener (1828-?), daughter of

Amalie von Sternfeld (1808-1888), illegitimate daughter of

Therese Mathilde von Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1773.1839)

There will be numerous descents in the female line - through Princess Mary Tudor (daughter of Henry VII) and her older sister Margaret Tudor.

Mary Tudor's younger daughter Eleanor had one daughter Lady Margaret Clifford - she left numerous descendants in the male and female lines.

Mary Tudor's granddaugher Lady Catherine Grey has numerous descendants as well (if you accept the validity of her marriage).

I highly doubt I am . . . as far back as I can trace my ancestors were 100% Irish!

Of course they are - sorry but you know what i meant - not only still her descendants but legally the rightful heirs of the English throne (under Henry VIII's will and by Act of Parliament)

You're welcome, I'll tell him when I see him...

Here's a link to her descendance linking directly from Von Krüdener right to my uncle José Pedro Calvo-Sotelo:

Have you got a private page or anywhere else where I can see your relationship?? It would be very interesting!

I will claim I am!  (:

My father researches our family genealogy and he told me we are related to Henry VIII.  I don't know by who but I can find out if you'd like?
