Who will begin? on which topic? on 'Imperial Family'?

Imperial Family is probably the best place to post group photo-topics. Possible exceptions:
Standart photos on the Imperial Transportation board
Livadia photos on the Palaces in the Crimea board

But maybe someone should ask FA or Laura Mabee first. The mods might want those boards used only for photographs, plans, and information about the ships and palaces themselves, not snapshots of the IF in those locations.

Sounds like a good plan as far as I'm concerned. ^_^

I agree with KarlandZita. I hate to be a spoilsport, but the vast majority of photos posted here are not rare at all -- they've been available on older threads, Livadia.org, or the Beinicke collection for months and years. We're even starting to duplicate photos from previous rare threads.

When new books come out, or new Russian sites are discovered, our photo-hunters sometimes do find rare and beautiful images I wouldn't have discovered on my own. That's why I don't post photos or comment here very often -- even though I've seen most of the pictures, I don't want to discourage the people who spend their time looking for photos to share with us.

I understand. Without looking through all the past threads, it's hard to know what's really new. A compromise: post photos you are unsure of in the regular photo threads instead of here with rare photos. Each member of the IF has multiple photo threads. Here are the most recent/active:

Photos of Nicholas II
Empress Alexandra Photos
Olga photographs II
Tatiana Photographs II
Pictures of Marie Thread
Anastasia Pictures IV
Re: More Pictures of Aleksey

Captivity photo's
Beach/Swim Pictures
Winter/snow Pictures I

It's also much easier to locate specific photos later if they're organized this way instead of lumped together on the rare thread. We could start threads for formals, Stavka photos, OTMA photos, Standart photos, Livadia photos, etc.

I'd encourage all our newer members to spend some time browsing through old photo threads. It takes time, but I promise you'll be rewarded. There are dozens of threads full of thousands of pictures here, and I'm sure you'll find many new treasures for your collections. People marvel at my photo collection, but I can honestly say that at least 85% of my photos came from the AP forums, APTM, Beinicke, and Livadia.org in the first place, and they are still out there for you to discover. Once you've become familiar with these collections, you'll recognize and appreciate truly rare photos all the more.

As for me, I found terribly difficult to find a particular picture, there is no order at all, and you can not be sure where is, for example, some picture of Tatiana and Olga in Livadia. Are they in ON's picture, in TN's picture, in Olga and Tatiana pictures thread, in "imperial family", in LIvadia's thread, in rare picture and so on. That is the reason why I propose one day to open a special section for pictures, per years, for example. It could have been more "scientific" and simply easier. But this idea had no success.

The idea was great but had one significant problem - in many pictures we can only guess the year. I also don´t know, why people send pictures of two or more members of the family into one person´s section.

Sarushka, I think it's an excellent idea. We've been having this issue for a long time, but no one seemed to have an idea that worked. Hopefully this will do.

Now I'm fully aware this in no way rare, or even an actual photograph of them, but I found it far too interesting to ignore. It would appear to be a life sized wax mannequin replication of the executions on July 17th 1918. The picture is terribly small, but I've asked the website owner if they had a larger version, so hopefully they reply soon. My question is where on earth this is....

Demidova seems to be in the far corner, Olga and Tatiana at the back, I think the blonde is supposed to be Anastasia or even Maria or some random they decided to put in, and Alexei seems to be dead in Alexandra's arms with Nicholas in front:
