Anyone going to Ekaterinburg for the 17/18th July?
« on: June 13, 2008, 11:13:42 AM »
Hello,

I thought I would ask if anyone here is going to Russia and Ekaterinburg for the anniversary of the massacre of the Imperial Family this year to pay respects? I might try to take a week to visit St Petersburg, Tsarkoe Selo and Ekaterinburg if I can, I wondered if any other members will also visit at this time?

Hi Marty,

I think we should all try to get there for that date if possible.

I am told Ekaterinburg in July is miserable - but I will be there in 2018.

Yes 2018 makes more sense. Perhaps we should all try to get there. I would start of in St Petersburg, Tsarkoe Selo, Tobolsk and then Yekaterinburg for the 17/18th if I possibly could. That will be a very sad day

Agree with LisaDavidson and Michael HR.
I read Russian Orthodox Church is going across St-Petersburg to Ekaterinburg long walk, remembering 90 years since murders in Ekaterinburg. Also, Russian Orthodox Church don't recognize new found remains of Tsarevich and Grand Duchess Maria.  :(

I'm guessing because it can get extremely hot in July-August and infested with mosquitos.

It can get like that in Wisconsin, too. Mosquitoes are also abundant.
