I asked about the little poster that I saw displayed, but the docent said that they'd given them all away...

Hmm... I might just drive the truck down. It'll cost me a small fortune in gas since it guzzels it down like no tomorrow. But at least I'll get there.   :-[

Laura, maybe you can rent a compact car for the weekend which doesn't take a lot of gas and drive down. Sometimes you can get pretty good deals online for car rentals. Have you looked into flights? Maybe they are not as expensive as you think...

Oh Laura, it seems like you are having the worst luck trying to get over there! Sorry about your family member. I hope you can still make it to Cincin next week, you must!

Laura,

Did you get to go to the exhibit?  We leave tomorrow (Friday) and will go to the exhibit Saturday afternoon.  It has gone from my DH & I going by ourselves to having 7 members of our extended family going with us now.

Hey Holly!

Unfortunatly I didn't get to go last week. I am heart-broken. I didn't get to go last week, and just yesterday my boyfriend (who was taking me on this trip for my birthday) Told me he did have the energy to take me anymore. So not only did I not go last weekend, I am not going at all. I've spent so many hours crying about this now, and I avoided the forums for a while now... but avoiding the topic that that touches me so much won't bring me Cincinnati.  :'(
I've cried so much, but tears won't get me there either. By the time that Eric (my bf) told me that he just couldn't do the trip all the greyhounds around me told me that the last trip to cincin for the weekend left an hour before. God, I am so unhappy. I tried calling VIA rail too..

BAH.. sorry guys. I didn't mean to get all emotional.

I have a question/favor to ask someone, anyone who might be going to this exhibit before it closes. Would someone pick me up an exhibition book? I would definatly pay you for it. And even before you go!
I so despritely want to see something for this exhibit.
*hugs everyone*

 :'( :'( :'(

Oh, that's so sad, Laura!  No offense to your boyfriend, but that seems a bit self-centered if you ask me.  Especially since it was for your birthday!

I don't think my dad will take me again, since we are way busy with fixing up the house to put on the market (>:().  Sorry. :(

I hope someone will go so that you can get the book (and so they can see everything, of course).

Thank you Shvibzik!
You're so sweet. I do hope someone would be willing to help me get a copy of the exhibition book, as I haven't found it on eBay or anything.  :'(

Laura,

Didn't Holly say she was going?  Last Friday, I think.  Is she already back, or not?  If she isn't,  I hope she has some kind of computer access somewhere, or she may not get the message. :(  Perhaps post your request on the Forum Announcements? :-/

Dearest Shvibzik!
You won't believe my luck! An awsome member here, Sarah1872, re-directed me to Giberts Royal Digest. You won't believe the treasures I found!!
Oh the luck! I am so happy! *hugs for everyone*

Yay for Laura! ;D ;D  She'll live happily ever after now! ;)  Except when you get the book, you'll want to have seen the exhibit more.  Ah well, at least you get pictures so you can keep looking back, since they don't let you have camera's in the exhibit. >:(

I so would have taken pictures anyway. The plan was for me to see it the first day I was there, take it all in. And then the day that I was leaving I was going to take my digital in there turn off the flash (adding so people don't get angry) and take as many pictures as I could get till I was done or got kicked out  ;D

I did get to see the exhibit but because it was the last weekend it was very crowded and hard to get near some things.  I did really enjoy it.  Lots of pictures, blow-ups from their albums and even a few of the actual albums under glass.  Some clothing, toys and furniture.  drawings of the rooms at the palace and plans for the rooms.  The funniest thing was the plans drawn of Nicholas' desk.  He was so fussy about where things went on his desk that he drew a plan so the servants could make sure that after dusting, everything was back in its exact place.  The home movies were interesting but I think I have some of them on my Nicholas & Alexandra tape that I got on Ebay.  There was a special area about the Cincinnati connection.  Dimitri Pavlovich's wife Audrey Emery was part of a family with links to Cincinnati and Paul Ilyinski liked there for awhile and 3 of his 4 children still live there.  There was film of a tv interview with Paul.

That is all I can think of now.
