I believe I'm watching it right now and it's great because they are doing tests, like if the jewels sewn into the Grand Duchess' corsets act as a bullet-proof vest.

Aww, it's really short.

All in all, it was quite a good documentary. The only thing that annoyed me was them repeating themselves after every advertisement break!!!

I also thought it was a very good documentary. Unlike most documentaries about the last Imperial family, the facts were straight and they actually showed photographs of the right people. A few things bothered me though. Alexei was referred to as the "crown prince" who would one day be king, and his hemophilia was never referred to, even though they kept asking the question  - could alexei have survived. Not likely with hemophilia unless he had not been shot, hit or bayoneted. I am way too picky! But is was very good.

Rats! It's not listed on NG UK... Please, if anyone records it, please send it Laura's way so us non-Americans can watch it!!!  :)

Someone from the UK said it's running there under the name "Riddle of the Romanovs" and she saw it yesterday.

It was pretty good, not as exciting as I'd hoped, they didn't mention everything I had hoped, but they certainly saved the best for last! When they came in with those charts proving that the boy was the son of N and A, and the girl was the daughter of N and A, and the two bodies were brother and sister, and this was so strong that it would be against a million to one odds, I really, finally felt like we had closure to the case. It felt as good as it could under the sad circumstances.Of course no one will ever stop the conspiracy theorists, they'll come up with something. It was also interesting how the show addressed the conspiracies and talked about them, this made it even better when they were all refuted at the end. Oh and it also mentioned AA and said she turned out to be "a factory worker from Poland."

It looks like instead of the mtDNA Hessian/Victorian line profile (or maybe in addition to it) they tested the nuclear DNA of each child against that of the parents from the other grave. The matches were remarkable. The scientist said, "this is their son!" and "they were brother and sister." The results are very convincing, and they showed the whole process and scientific methods used and how he carried them to the US in a contamination free box. The last thing they said was that it didn't matter which girl it was, they are all accounted for. Then it said, Anastasia died that night, along with her parents, little brother, and older sisters.

For conspiracy theorists, the well is really running dry. What are the chances that the bone fragments are rigged, AND the AA DNA intestine sample was rigged AND the hair sample was rigged, isn't that becoming more and more of a stretch than it already was? sorry but it has become insane to believe all that especially when there is no proof whatsoever. No matter how desperate some people may be to hold onto claimants, it's over.

People are saying it's airing in the UK on channel 5, and probably using the other name (Riddle of the Romanovs) the other person mentioned.

Why is there never something like this on German TV ? :-((
Without this forum; I wouldn't even have heard of the bodies being found.

they actually showed photographs of the right people

I know! That annoys me sooooooooooooo much when they get it wrong! Espeically when they're discussing whether the missing GD from the grave was Maria or Anastasia, and they show a photo of Olga for Maria and then one of Maria for Anastasia! It just completely invalidates their points!! And in some cases, it's just pure insanity: in the instance I gave above, the photo of Olga was a crop of one from 1913 of her and Tatiana and at the bottom of the photo it even says: 'Grand Duchesses Olga and Tatiana Nikoaveny'!!! ::)

Jelisaveta: seriously? Was it not even on the news?? Even the UK had a little bit on that... Well, apparently, on a channel called Pheonix (never heard of/watched it myself) they're showing ZDF's 'Zar Nikolaus II: Die Akte Romanow' (part of the old 'Sphinx - Geheimnisse der Geschichte' series)

I really loved it. The only mistake I remember was near the beginning when it said they were killed 'on the night of July 17th'. I can't remember any other mistakes besides that and that isn't even a big deal.

The last minute was especially good. It was sooo sad to me.
