I really loved it. The only mistake I remember was near the beginning when it said they were killed 'on the night of July 17th'. I can't remember any other mistakes besides that and that isn't even a big deal.

The last minute was especially good. It was sooo sad to me.

Why is the 17th a mistake? That is the date...or do you mean they intimated the deaths were in the late hours of 17 July rather than in the early morning hours after midnight?

It's a mistake because they weren't killed "on the night of July 17th". They were killed on July 17th but it wasn't on the night of July 17th.

Yes, that's what I said: they died during the early morning hours of 17 July. But I've also heard people refer to anything where it's dark out as "the night", even though they're technically wrong. Actually, determining whether a death occurred during day, evening or night is quite important in things like medical examiner cases, etc.

However, unless National Geographic fixes the security certificates on their web site for ordering securely online, I won't be ordering the DVD from them today. All kinds of alarms went off on my PC when trying to place a secure order this afternoon. Just a heads up to anyone else planning on trying to purchase the DVD directly from NG.

It was after midnight to technically early morning, but no question it was dark because remember the Bolsheviks feared the sun coming up.

A very special thank you to Helen A. She is making an extra copy of the NG show and sending it on to Saria, who will send my copy on to me. How kind and sweet is that?

Sarai, thank you in advance for taking the time to mail me a copy.

Both of you rock.

A very grateful,

Louise

Aloha all!

Well it figures doesn't it?  If I take a few days  off from reading all the threads on this site - then something like this pops up after the fact!

Yesterday I was channel-surfing and came upon this program showing on the NGC - but it was about 20 minutes into it!  And unlike it seems every other show on the NGC Channel, I cannot see where it repeats itself at least this week!

Darn it!  When I first started watching I thought it was just an older program about the 1991 bones - then realized it was the 2007 find!  I thought it was very well done and very interesting - and they even got the right names with the right pictures!  Now that doesn't happen often!

Hoping that the NGC does what it usually does and repeats this program soon!

I still didn't have the chance to pick up the VHS tape with the program from my friend who recorded it for me, but I am hoping to do it this weekend and burn the copies onto DVDs for all of us. So sit tight, they will be coming!

Well, ain't that just marvelous...I'm going to have to buy the dang DVD. Again, no commercials. I wonder when NGC will show it. Sarai, if you hear back from them let me know, ok?

Thanks,

Louise

I did hear back from NGC Canada regarding any plans to air this program in Canada and this was their response: "Thank you for contacting National Geographic Channel. While we sometime air the same programming as the US network, we have no partnership or affiliation with them. We do not currently have Explorer: Finding Anastasia on our schedule, but we will pass your request to our programming department for future consideration."

So, it looks like we won't be seeing it here anytime soon. If Helen can't get a copy then I'll just have to put the DVD on my wishlist.

I am still going to work on making some viable DVDs of the show for you guys. So far it hasn't worked, but I have hopes for when a friend of mine visits in a couple of weeks. Sometimes he can do wonders with technology.  ;) I will keep you posted.
