Thank you for the links Richard!  What an amazing looking building.

Can anyone tell me if they have reconstructed the entire palace as it is shown in the model?  The only pictures I've seen have been of the one facade.  I had heard that the original was made without any nails-is the reconstruction made the same way?  What is going to be done with the interior?  What will it be used for?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am very curious!

Yes, they reconstructed the entire Palace  as it was in the XVII century, the builders used the old plans, drafts and drawings and schemes. The colours of the facade and roof are just the same as they were. Of course now the technology is WITH nails due to the modern ways of reconstruction. The interiors will be restoring next year, also as close as possible to the old drawings and plans.
The Palace will be the Center of Historical education (for children) and some cultural events, the Moscow authorities plans to open the Center in summer 2010.

Wow, amazing, so cool with such a large wooden palace! This must surely become the new model of the king's castle in traditional Norwegian fairytales, were the King always lives in a huge wooden palace, quite like the Muscovite Grand Dukes and Tsars did! It looks like Kolomenskoye easily will outrank the royal residence in the Norwegian coronation city of Trondheim as Northern Europe's largest wooden building! So cool with these northern parallells between Russia and Norway.

Svetabel,

Thanks for the reply!  I'm glad to hear it will be just as it was in the XVII century, but I do wish they hadn't used nails.  How neat would that be?  Can't wait to see more picutres, especially of the inside.
