Discussions about Other Imperial Palaces > Palaces in Moscow
Russian Presidential Residences?
Constantinople:
I think that massive new residence outside of Moscow may be a gift to Putin. I think he might try for a new term as President and then retire to that palace.
Michael HR:
That's one hell of a gift! I thought it would be for one of the oil persons who have so much wealth these days. Politicians should not profit from their time in public office and certainly not to that extent, IMHO.
Is there not a limit to the term of office for President, rather like the USA which limits to two terms in office? Always thought that was a mistake because of you are good you can be reelected as many times as the people want you but if dreadful at your job then you are out anyway. In England you can run as Prime Minister as many times as your party will allow you to remain leader and the people can support you, such as Mrs Thatcher and tony Blair. Gordon Brown may not last past one office come May but you never know in politics.
Robert_Hall:
Yes, Michael HR- 2 CONSECUTIVE terms. He can run again after a break.
Michael HR:
Thank you Robert, I was not aware of that. I assume he will run given a chance and would probably win.
Michael
Robert_Hall:
Yes, he could win again, I am positive. When his second term was coming to an end, there was a movement to change the Constitution so that he run a for a 3rd term, but he quashed the idea.
