i dont know if this is a new topic or not but i have found a picture of a naked alexi being washed by derevenko after a swim. has anyone els seen this photo ?   i would post the pic but i dont know how to.

Yes, I've seen that photo and am sure most here have as well, but I can scan and post the pic if anyone else hasn't seen it. I'm sure it's in one of my books somewhere.

I have seen that one too--I believe it was taken in Finland, in 1913, or on Dnieper beach, near Mogilev, in 1916.

Most people here have the photo in their collections, but are afraid to post it on the boards. I'll never understand how Aleksey's body could be seen as innapropriate, but the drawings and paintings of the murder scene are okay(not saying the murder scenes shouldn't be posted. They are history, after all. But I've never heard anyone complain about them like they do nudity).

I agree, and after all it depends in what way the nudity is shown, when it is shown in some form of art I don't have troubles with it, as long it isn't too much lurking to pornography(sorry for the word here

I think the world has gone mad! I don't think any of us are going to perve over a young lad butchered some 90 years ago. In England you can't even take photos of your own children anymore without getting into trouble. Common sense is what is needed.

They're really not that scandalous, folks. OTMA's private photo albums contain pictures of their father and their brother swimming nude, so I don't think the IF was terribly uptight about it. But in deference to the modern sensitivity about nudity, I'll post direct links instead of the photos themselves:

i agree hradly the scandel of the year! it was common in them time for men and boys to swim naked ( when there was no women swimming with them)

What the photos do show are the bruises, I assume that is what they are, that Alexis had from his illness and from an historical point of view this is intresting with regard to the health of Alexis. Clearly here he is well and seems to be a normal weight, which of course he was not in Yekaterinburg before he was murdered. Had his whole skeleton been found it may of been of use to work out height and bone structure but I understand that very little was found

yes michael hardly anything was found-  only 44 peices of bone from both the bodies of alexi and maria

I suppose there will be other remains scattered in the local area. Quite a lot of teeth are missing and these are almost impossible to destroy and must be near by

They're not scandalous at all, and there are thousands of pictures like that, almost every parent has taken pictures of their child nude as a baby, or young child. And after all, it was accepted back then, aldo to our point of view it seems strange since we see the Victorian era as prudish about sexuality, puberty and the differences between males and females.
