Swollen face/cheek?

the quality isn't very good but we can see that he's doing something with his mouth and with his tongue

when alexei appears clearly he doesn't do that thing with his tongue but just after his apparition he does it

It is hard to see because he is doing it on the other cheek. I guess I will concede unless someone has any knowledge of Alexei with an abcessed tooth or injury to his face.

I think a part of his mouth bothered him and force him to touch it with his tongue.  Someone made a comment months ago about Alexei teeth not being the best and he even had a gap between the two from incisives.

Is either that or he just had that habit.  Still, the first time I saw that picture with his cheek swollen I thought he had some kind of candy and instead of carrying it in his hand he just store it between his teeth and cheek.

I just assume that he was in the habit of sticking his tongue in his cheek. I agree with Sarushka about Nicholas and Alexandra not allowing Alexei to appear in public like that if it was a result of his hemophilia. For so long they had been keeping it a secret and such an appearance surely would have caught the people's attention.

I wonder how often he really had dreadful bruises, etc from his Hemophilia. It seems that there are so many pictures of him throught his life. I don't see where there is a long span of time without a picture or video of him. Any ideas?
