 Oh my Good the picture with Lisabeta and Carol is so beautyfull. It's so sad she wasn't reallly close to her eldest children.

From what i know, their relationship when they were kids were "ok, love but not friends" it when Carol and Lisabeta got older it when the trouble starts. i could be wrong but thats the feeling i get when i read about Marie and her eldest children.

Carol I and Carmen Sylva decided the Crown Princess was "unfit" to raise her children.  They undermined her in any way they could.

In the 1980's the Cartier historian Hans Nadelhoffer quite by chance on a visit to the current Queen of Romania at her home in Switzerland found the necklace in pieces in the bottom of her jewelry casket...the sapphire had long been sold.

It has several photos of the sapphire pendant (including the 2 posted here as well as one of Frederike wearing it) and some other tidbits about the sapphire, the chain (which belonged to Nancy Leeds originally) and what happened to it.
