I rarely participate here in the "having fun" threads, but there is a historical point of correct I want to make. Tatiana Z you are incorrect that they would have listened to "Russian" songs only.  The Imperial Family was very cosmopolitan, even by European standards of the day.  They had records of popular American, French and German music, as well as Russian.  In the respect of their musical tastes, they were indeed exactly like families of today who are extremely wealthy and worldly though perhaps more "conservative" by todays standards.

They read National Geographic and English popular magazines, as well as French and German popular magazines and they watched American movies.  They would certainly know about any popular music artist who has international attention.  If people today in Russia know these artists then the IF would also know them.

Sorry , but I did not wrote that the IF   "would have listened to "Russian" songs only. "
I have simply added, that have forgotten about Russian music which they liked to listen more, than another.

And They were not cosmopolitans. They loved their native land Russia and have preferred to remain in Russia, instead of to leave,
though they had no place to leave, in fact the cousin  George V  refused to invite them to England

Yes, because Parliment wouldn't allow it, if I am not mistaken.

I also disagree with TatianaZ's statement, but such is NOT the topic at hand.  If you want to discuss England's decision to reverse the offer of asylum, please go to the appropriate thread.

Loving one's country has NOTHING to do with being "cosmopolitan".  The IF traveled extensively across Europe and were quite well familiar with the larger "European" culture as well as the individual cultures of England, France, Germany, Italy and the US...as well as their native Russia.  I am well acquainted with many people who would easily qualify as cosmopolitan, traveling all over the world, speaking multiple languages and yet they too love their native country and reside there, which has NOTHING to do with being cosmopolitan.  I suspect Tatiana Z is not a native English speaker and is perhaps not understanding the proper use of the term...

Yes ,You are right , I'm  "not a native English speaker " , but the meaning of the word "cosmopolitan" I understand perfectly well .

But , returning to this topic ...

Here is an example of favorite music  of Imperial Family

Anastasia? Hannah Montana? Are you KIDDING me??

This 'music' is all hip hop or whatever you want to call it. I don't agree at all.

I can actually picture Anastasia being more into Indie music.

Exactly.

Personally, I think they all had a little more class than to listen to Jordin Sparks, Leona Lewis, and Jojo. ;)

For some reason I've always thought they would like The Beatles...haha.

I sometimes think of Anastasia and Alexei possibly listening to rock like Hawk Nelson, Switchfoot, Superchick, TFK, P.O.D., Manafest, Pillar, tobyMac.

To be honest, I've always imagined Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Alexei to be into RnB/Hip-Hop music - perhaps like Christina Aguilera, Ashanti, Usher and Timbaland. Anastasia is the one that strikes me as being into Indie music. I think music from Hannah Montana and JoJo are more for young children; I just can't imagine them to be into it, either.

That's just my honest thoughts! I think I hold opposite opinions to yours, Holly! :L

I can see Anastasia liking J-Pop and J-Rock.

Marie might enjoy some of the sappier prog rock songs.

Excuse me. I listen to them, are you saying I don't have class? :p I think that Olga and Tatiana seem to be the ones that would be into indie rock, hippie music, Maria would have liked classic 70s, Beatles, Mammas and Pappas music while Anastasia would have been into the more hip hoppy Chris Brown genre.

Perhaps Nicholas could have enjoyed listening to 'Dazed and Confuse' by Led Zeppelin
