Passing from French to Russian is not easy. I think it's as hard as for English people, because the alphabet isn't the same thing at all.

I'm trying to learn Russian (I'm a French speaker, and I speak fluently English), but it was really hard. I only know 2-3 sentences and understand the alphabet, but, as I said, some grammar rules are the same as the French language and some are like English (just like possessive pronouns).

But, honnestly, I don't understant why Russian people would hate England and America and would prefer France..

Probably you are right because i'm not french and you will know better... About this why they hate England and America... This is political .... they have one strange opinion about America mostly...

In my opinion it will be hard because you need a teacher which you can see how is he talking and pronounce the words...

As I'm also French, is the Russian language hard to pronounce ?

Most of the sounds looks like the French sounds. On the other hand, some sounds doesn't exist in French. You have to hear it and try to imitate the same sound.

I bought a book (which comes with 2 CDs) to learn Russian. I didn't had time to try it, but as soon as I get time, I'll tell you if this method works ! But don't forget that if you don't hear the Russian sounds, it will be very hard to get the real pronounciation of the different letters of the alphabet. I looked at many books to learn the Russian alphabet and each one had different pronounciation for some sounds. But, it's like learning any other language once you've learn the alphabet !

I think that maybe the alphabet is easier than one could think. It's really the pronounciations and the grammar rules that may be hard. But I bet that you only need concentration for those kind of things.
I've started learning Japanese language for few days now, and I think that when I'll finish learning and fighting with Jap's alphabet, Russian's alphabet will look far easier.xD.

Yes. Once you put time in the alphabet, it's really easy. More, many letters are the same, only minor differences that could be learned in an hour ! :)

Good luck for the Japanese !

I'm learning French all by myself with the help of a Xenophobes handbook. It's so difficult to pronounce French especially the r. I'm kind of snorting when I speak it. I also have to remind myself that all final letters must be silent except c,f, and i don't know the others(I forgot :( )
Well, Russian alphabet's easier to learn than japanese. God bless you on your Japanese lessons Proud Olga.

Oh ! Good luck ! If you need any help with your French, just PM me ;). I've been told French is a really difficult language to learn ! For us, born speakers, we don't really see the difficulty of our language :D.

Yes, you're right. But I think, IMO, that some languages are easier than others. To learn English as compared to French or Russian is way more easier, because of the rules of grammar. For example, once you've learned the exceptions about the verbs, you have pratically all the "bases" about this. In French, each "time" (past, present, etc.) is different and have its specialties.
