I am almost done with the book. Planned on finishing it on July 17th but life got in the way. I am really really enjoying it, well done, Sarah!

As far as a making a movie out of it, I think it would be tricky since the chapters are written from the first person perspective of each girl, which is one of the book's main appeals, IMO, and it would be kind of difficult if not impossible to recreate that"intimacy" in a film. Some books are better left as books and they just don't translate well into movies. I personally prefer books to movies any day!

I pretty much devoured it whole, then went back and picked up the finer points!  :)

What I did:
I got it Monday
Finished it Tuesday
Started again on the same Tuesday
Finished it again on that Thursday

Yes, I read it twice in 4 days! The funny thing was: it was just as good the 2nd time, even after just reading it!

So do I.  : )  I find that movies butcher the books they're supposed to be based on, anyway.  We don't want that to happen to OTMA and Sarah.  ; )

Aloha!

Mahalo "Sarushka" for those deleted scenes - wonderful little "extra" for all of us!

And yes, I'm on my 2nd read-thru as well!

I think that The Lost Crown would make a great movie! Nothing could ever beat the book, but I think that even though many movies have been done about the Romanovs, it would be really nice to have a movie that is not so much about the Romanovs, just four sisters, their trials and tribulations, their joys and sorrows. It would be sort of hard to put the alternating chapters into a movie, but I don't think it would be impossible!
Great deleted chapters! They're very short--were they going to be longer? It was wierd, I had this song that is of that piece of scripture in Tatiana's May, 1918 deleted chapter put to music stuck in my head while I was reading those, and then I cam upon that! It was creepy but nice!
