I came across this website but I'm wondering who on this forum colored what pics

There's nothing you guys can do. When some jerk was selling my pictures on eBay and making money off of them, or my scans, I  couldn't get eBay to stop them and they legally should have. This is just typical internet theft. Considering it's just some dinky website, don't even worry about it. Get angry if people take your colorized photos and make a profit from them.

This person is obviously an idiot, because the black and white images are all public property regarding copyright.  However, the colorized photos are modified public property and therefore the colorizer's (I made up a word!) creative property.  Again, there's nothing you can do about it if she's not selling them.  Obviously she just took them from the website here; she's certainly not clever enough to get rid of the website title on the images, at least.  Moron.

Nothing to do with IF pictures but i just found out that i ve been stolen from my deviantart account. I was browsing one of my favorite Livejournal s group and i found two of my pictures posted by someone else without permission and credit  :


Im so angry and i wanted to share mi fustration with all of you ...(sighs...)

That reminds me of the time I made this MSN display picture three years ago.
The text on it was an inside joke between me and an ex-boyfriend of mine.
When I made it, I put it on my personal website for my friends to see,
And this girl at my school popped up on MSN with it in her display box.
I got so pissed when she attempted to tell me that she found it on an MSN website
Two years before that...when I had made it a week earlier, and she claimed it wasn't mine! Argh...

I guess, from now, we have to pay more attention to our works.
It's not so hard to ask and credit someone. Apparently, these people prefer stealing works of the others.

You had better read DA's terms of service and copyright policy because you are breaking their policy and rules...I cant wait til someone reports you! That s  so not true!. Post  1910 pictures i got colored over my account are all bought, the rest are a mix or other site stock pictures, bought postcard and public domain pictures.

If someone wants to support me over livejournal, just ask me the link of the group and i ll send it thru pm.

This person is an idiot. That isn't true at all. I spoke to someone that works at DA and asked about the copyright stuff. They told me that if the picture is after 1922 (I forgot if it was 1920 or 1922) and everyone involved with the production of the photograph is deceased, the photograph is free range for anyone. If you post a colorized picture, you're fine as long as you state the date the photograph was taken. But, as Lanie said, if you take the picture and colorize it, then it is YOURS.

Tell this person that. And then tell them they need to read up on things before they speak to keep themselves from looking stupid. :]

Well im mi D.A account i have some pictures post 1922 recolored, but they re were purchased and scanned by me. I dont make money with them and i put a link to the original.

The strange thing of all is that this person had also posted pictures of other  Known artists like Alix of Hesse, Justine and Lisotchka with credits (Well Lisotchka had to say to her that she needed to credited her cause the first time, she didnt and post em without proper credit) but me....well..maybe she thought that i wont ever visit that comunnity

Please mark images you modify (put effort into). Colorizing is a modification. This forum has large numbers of older images from cartes de visite and post cards predating Disney. An unlabeled image of a woman in a bustle can be mistaken for an older cdv or post card. The bustle says "pre-Disney."

Copyright law is, to may awareness, now based on protecting Disney-ana such as his signature and figures such as Mickey Mouse. I suspect the 1920s start date for copyrights is the year "Steamboat Willie" with a happy mouse as the skipper of a steamboat was released by a new animator.

Considering the real issue, acknowledgment or reward for effort, colorization is effort that should be acknowledged when the effort is known.

Also, be careful before screaming thief. With the wealth of cdvs and post cards out and about on eBay, legitimate mistakes are possible.

First of all... i never told it was you the person who posted those pics over there. If i see my recolored pictures posted somewhere else with the same label i ve got post em on deviantart, without permission and credit...what should i think?.


 
Second..you told me that those pictures were posted over here. I didnt do it... so, can you please send me the link of that topic?. Cause someone posted those pictures over here without permission.

The person who did that knows exactly that those pictures  were recolored by someone else (me) and they re not the antique originals


Be more careful about posting recolored pictures if you re not sure if they re handtinted, cause, if there dont mention an artist or link...that s art thef!
