This photo from livadia I think is at the AP standing in front of the right wing with the fence on the left that went across the courtyard. Can anyone confirm?

I'm often amazed at the differences in N&A's 5 children, while all 5 share similarities that mark them out as related they all look completely different. For instance, there are times Tatiana has a Eurasian look to her while Olga has always looked Slavic to me, this despite the fact that between Nicholas and Alexandra there was very little actual Russian blood in the children's genes (Nicholas himself being largely German genetically). The reason why I'm amazed is that in comparison many of the other royals at the time all looked remarkably alike thanks to intermarriages (Queen Victoria for instance married her first cousin Albert and their mutual uncle Leopold of Belgium managed to marry his Coburg relatives into several other dynasties). By the time of OTMAA most of the royal families of Europe were either related to QV or the Hapsburgs (with the famous Hapsburg jaw seen in many of their family members), yet the Imperial Children all seemed very distinctive. The only exception I can see is Anastasia who resembled the young Alix of Hesse when she was young (especially noticable in the nose and eyes) but even Anastasia lost most of that "Hessian" look as she got older.

And I agree with Antonio about Tatiana about Tatiana's nose. In many of her younger toddler pictures you can see the little (charming IMO) nook at the tip of her nose that prevents it from being totally straight yet this seems to have disappeared in many of the formal and informal pictures of her, probably thanks to retouching. It's not like it disappeared as in a (rare) few of her "adult" pictures you can still see it if you look closely enough.

OTMA are beautiful, but I think Tatiana's beauty is more exotic, eurasian; Olga's face is more classic.
Tatiana is very elegant; she is well with everething she wears.  ¿Do you thisk she is the most elegant?

Well during her lifetime most people thought so. She was (according to Massie and some others) the most popular of the grand duchesses and the most public one. The public eye obviously didn't faze her as much it did Olga although Tatiana was supposedly privately shy as well.

She does have a Eurasian look about her and Olga has a distinct Slavic look. Which is very surprising since genetically speaking there was very little Russian blood in either of them (Nicholas being largely German genetically as well).

I actually think she looked the best of the sisters with short hair. It suited her. The pictures taken after she got Typhoid and had her head shaved and it grew in short like this would be considered very in "style" both today and in the 1920s Flapper era Tatia didn't live to see : (via Livadia.org)

Does anyone else notice the distinct resemblance to Alexei in this photo or is it just me?

It is not just you! I have often thought that. There is also a photo of Alexei in Love, Power and Tragedy where he is sitting on the floor with a hat on and he is wearing like a big robe thing and he is looking up at the camera and the first time I saw it I did a double take and thought, whoa! That looks like Tatiana!!
I see resemblences between Alexei and Marie a lot but more so between Alexei and Tatiana.
So interesting!!

Yes I've seen incredible resemblances to Tatiana in Alexei.  But I think he generally looks the most like Maria.  I've also noticed pictures where he looks a great deal like Olga.  And I definitely agree with Madal that Tatiana was Asian and exotic, and Olga was more a classic beauty

Is this Alexei sitting on Olga's lap? If so, I didn't know that boys wore such frilly dresses even at that age.

Yes, that's Alexei.  He was about two years old when that photo was taken - on his third birthday the Empress put him in pants.

I think in this photo Tatiana Nikolaevna really looks like Alexandra Fyodorovna.
