Bryndis) these really are quite remarkable. I swear if you stare long enough at the 'now' portion of these 'then & now' photos you can just about see their ghosts wandering about it. Thanks so much for sharing and please don't hesitate to post more!

Jen) Nice find there with the castle! Is it just me though or does the opening in the 1896 photo look wider than the door that seals it off in your current picture?

I definitely have to tag this thread!  This is such a help with identifying locations!  Not only that, but it's quite an experience to imagine "they were there".
Well, the Chinese were only using a simple polyphoneticly grouped twenty square digit key, transposed from booster verdonic form, with multiple nulls.
