By years it perfectly fits with Olga to be 1912 and then she was 17 ( with her hair up ) because i don't have any information they visited Finland in 1915 ....If it was 1912 then Maria was 13... i think she turn her hair up 14-15 .... So it doesn't fit... if it was 1915 (which i don't think it is ) she would be 16... and then it would be normal to wear her hair up... But it doesn't fit with the years of The family being in Finland... What would they do there that year?

What i said in the last topic

I too doubt they would've visited Finland during the war.It must be Olga but when? it may not have been an actual holiday in Finland maybe they just stopped there briefly during one of the cruses on the standart?

In my opinion the year is not 1915 but 1912 .... And both of the girls looks similiar on pictures but those contours of the face are typical Olga style... She got her own special beauty and charm...

P:S the picture can't be also under 1911 .... Because Olga was the first who turn her hair up... Just think it ;) So it'a really between 1911-1914 ....

Their last cruise on the Standart was in 1914. To my knowledge the IF didn't visit the Finnish skerries after that.

P:S the picture can't be also under 1911 .... Because Olga was the first who turn her hair up... Just think it ;) So it'a really between 1911-1914 ....

But Olga's 16th birthday wasn't until November of 1911, so IMO it's more likely 1912-14.

Incidentally, these are all the photos I'm aware of showing Maria with her hair up at age 15 in 1914:

I think it's significant that all of them were taken on board the Standart -- a relatively private and isolated spot to break a "rule" of society. This photo might be the only exception to that rule:

I say "might because Count Grabbe's book labels this as Maria in Finland in 1913, but IMO he's incorrect (there are a number of incorrect names and dates in his captions). I think it's more likely to have been taken in 1915 during one of the IF's visits to Stavka, while picnicking along the Dneiper.

This confuses me more....
OK let's see what we have...
So the picture may be 1912-1914 (?)
Maria turn her hair at age 15 in 1914 and as you said their last cruise on Standart was 1914 ( But where did they go i couldn't understand)  I hope it wasn't Finland because there will be no chance to understand is it Olga or Maria...

But Sarushka look.... There was a trip to Finland 1915

This is what it says in livadia.org...
"Olya and I near the beach at Peterhof, on the Gulf of Finland, 1915. "
It's kind of strange because "beach at Peterhof" ?!?! and "on the Gulf of Finland"
There are mistakes in the site... because i saw in Olga's pictures one formal of her in court dress where she is with her hair down and next to it another one from her formals where she is with her hair up (there was a session and Tatiana was with hair up there too ) And so this could be again mistake

The website is correct Irina. The Gulf of Finland isn't ONLY in Finland. It touches Saint-Petersburg. Just tape Gulf of Finland on Google, find a map, and you'll see. So, no trip in Finland during 1915.

Maria didn't begin wearing her hair up consistently until mid-1915, when she was 16. Those few photos on board the Standart in 1914 are an anomaly -- no one's been able to figure out why she was allowed to put up her hair prematurely for those photos.

There are a few mistakes on Livadia.org, but they also say this on the home page for Olga's albums:

"The photos are in no particular order, aside from being generally grouped from early photos to later photos. "

the IF visited Finland in 1912,1913 &1914, I have photos from 1913/14 -

heres the photo inquestion - "http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f295/tom_romanov/111111111111.jpg"

here is Tatiana in 1913, notice the dress is similar - "http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f295/tom_romanov/TN1913.jpg"

and here is the famous one of the grand duchesses on a swing, again the dresses are similar -"http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f295/tom_romanov/swing1913.jpg"

and here's Olga in 1914, gulf of Finland - "http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f295/tom_romanov/ON1914.jpg"

personally I think it is 1913.

I have one other question... Since the theme is about pictures.... I found that picture little bit diffrent by those:

It's diffrent in my opinion
Look at those

Does somebody have it? :S

P:S It's diffrent because on the one which i'm looking for full version she don't show smile on the next she is little smiling and on the last it's almost same but her face is turn to left

I think this is the same one you're looking for, and it's a little bit fuller:

formal poses we set up so she looked a bit stiff, her clothes we more formal and stiff, she may have had a small bit of make-up on and her hair would have been dressed.
normal photos she looked more natural and relaxed
