To me it appears the waist is about Olga´s size - plus the strong legs and broad back suggest Maria.

I agree with you Ally and besides Tatiana was wearing a different color dress that time.

What color dress? Do you have a pic for me? :)

The strong legs are also one point against Tanya for me...but because I didn't see her legs ever before, I could not exclude it ;) But I finally agree with you both

To me, the strong  legs and wide shoulders say it is indeed the tutor lifting Maria! Plus Tatiana
was wearing a full dress that day...not a skirt and blouse. I love that group of photos

The picture postcard of baby Olga was found on eBay. A new seller from the Ukraine seems to
 have interesting items

May, 1916. I think nena has the precise date.

Anastasia's album says 1915 at Peterhof... whether that's correct I don't know.. I think Maria sometimes wore her hair up in private before doing so officially....so setting plays a part. Looking at Anastasia's album just now, I can see Ritka M.was wearing her nurses uniform that day and removed the head dress for her photos with Olga. You can see her in it with the, for once, shorter Tatiana  in a tiny photo on page 35. Perhaps they picked her up on a whim after her shift? Interesting. Is there a reason there aren't bigger versions of these great photos out there somewhere? They are terrific.

Anastasia's Album is incorrect. Here's a post about it by Daniel Briere:

Sorry to say that these photos were not taken at Peterhof but very far away, in the Crimea, on the shores of the Black Sea. When I first saw them, I was excited as I thought it was indeed Peterhof, but I found it odd the Palace would have such close neighbours as the photos would suggest. Then, in the book by Marvin Lyons, I noticed that the same photo of the Emperor sitting in front of a brick wall and metal fence was said to have been taken at Eupatoria in the Crimea, on May 16, 1916. I checked his diary and found that, while in the Crimea, the Imperial Family had paid a visit to “Anya” . His entry for the same day fits the photos. I then checked Anna Viroubova’s Memoirs and, sure enough, she writes that she spent two months in Eupatoria in a flower-hung villa overlooking the Black Sea, recuperating after her accident. She describes the day the Imperial Family came to visit and adds that after lunch they walked and sat on the beach. According to her, “Alexis enjoyed the day (…), playing on the beach and building a big sand fortress, which the schoolboys of the town next day surrounded by a high wall of stones to protect it from the ravages of the tide.” So the author and editor of “Anastasia’s Album” were obviously mistaken.

Okay but then how does Margarita Khitrovo (Ritka ) , who worked in the Tsarskoe Selo Infirmary, show up posing in her nurses uniform in on  the beach in the Crimea? ...which she clearly is wearing...the red heart is even cloured in.  Could this be in  1916? I have seen those photos labled with that year as well...

Margarita Khitrovo did nursing work in the Crimea in the latter years of the war. I don't know precisely when she moved, though.
