Russian Exhibition at V & A
« on: January 04, 2009, 12:08:29 PM »
Last week I visited the V & A in London and saw the selection of costumes loaned by the Hermitage... my favourite was the costume worn by Nicholas Ii at the famous Boyar Ball in 1903...If yr there make time too ...to go to the new jewelry galleries and see among the countless glittering items the Faberge box given by Alexandra to Nicholas to celebrate their coronation..

I have to say I cheated - Nicholas' costume is in the front and you can see it for free, the exhibition beyond is small and by peering from the front you can see quite a lot, I find uniforms dull however glitzy so I just took a good look from afar for free and called it a day.  The jewellery gallery is fantastic, though, faberge and all.  But I am spoilt as I live just 20 minutes away from the V&A.
