They even didn't have pity for that poor girl! But, that happening helped much on giving the story a sad ending.

If only it was a story, but there are many poor girls that people ignore all over the world ...

Yes, this situation is so common now. I can say that Hans Andersen .was so observant of such situations. Most of his stories include such miseries in human life. I wonder if this story really happened before. It’ll be nice to do a research regarding this.
